NOt that I would ever take them up on it but I have a septic who would
do this but there is a little faq that mentions they would require
    flight details :)

The same faq is a series of questions and one entry made me grin:

'This is all about raising money.'
<Short explanation of who gets the cash>

You will of course note the absence of a question mark....

There will be none of that tbh.
The car was being driven quick enough to get nicked in.
The pic should settle the matter, if it doesn't and someone has to take
the rap while doubt exists then hopefully it will add to the bad karma
    this sort of intolerance causes.
Then when he's retired and walking about in the hills just behind me
here he can wonder why no bugger who recognises him and got unfairly
nicked for going a few mile over the limit while ferrying Uncle about at
Christmas will have anything to do with him :)

Granted. There was another case that I recalled where they even booked
flights to post letters from abroad to back up the story but my
    googling powers were weak.

I reckon the best bet in this case is see what the photo shows, if it
isn't clear then be prepared to go to court with that. There's no
requirement (yet) to log drivers of family cars. The situation the OP
describes was for a couple of years quite common in my family, I and
the STBE each had CIHAGM insurance and the sprogs could drive our
cars. So if it was a short hop into town then the easiest accessible
    vehicle was used.

As always the bottom line is a degree of common sense and application of
grey matter is required. You also need to be quoting an overseas
accomplice with the same qualities. Ideally you have a mutual pact on
    these matters.

For instance, there needs to be proper prior evidence they/you were in
the right country at the right time!

I've had a clean licence for something like 17 years. Which is not to
say I haven't been in court. Eventually I will be dropped from a
*dizzying* height for 150+something but you can't win all the time. No
matter how severe I will reflect on it being buttons for the amount of
times they failed to pin it on me and the daily destruction of all speed
limits over the XX years. I might get on the BBC news too.

Sad that the IoM licence loophole was closed. The current Gov appear to
    be rather Poodle like.

My NY resolution may be "Don't get caught in 2009" ;o)

A quick count back says it's 20 for me now. That was for 85 on a dual
carriageway A road FFS. I am hoping I don't get clocked doing warp
    speeds.
I reckon you'll need to be close to 200 to get national news except on
    a slow news day.

Well photo arrived and its taken from behind while overtaking parked
cars up a slight incline. Just where you would naturally go a 'little
bit faster'. I guess they were after people coming the other way as its
a slight downhill incline. It is actually a spot where the speed limit
ought to be adhered to. Shops, parked cars etc.
Judging from the height it was taken I'm assuming it was one of them
    little tripod mounted things.
Still can't tell who it was though, so me and the missus will have to
toss a coin to see who gets done as she won't go to court over it. Ho
    hum.
Interesting point with bikes actually; if it so happened you had a
friend who has the same helmet size who is insured to ride your bike and
was willing to go to court over it and you had both been 'having a go'
that day; it would be difficult to remember who was actually on the bike
    at that point in time...

    DO NOT DO THAT.

Firstly, write back explaining that it could be any one of three drivers
and you have no way to tell which.

I'd just flip a coin and the loser gambles on having to do a speed
    awareness course.

  13. I wonder how dealers cope, when they might have half a dozen people or
more using a particular demo bike on a given day?

They'd have a record of who used it when, and check the time of the
    offence.

In theory. However, many dealers have just thrown me a set of keys without
    taking down any details.

The last couple of jobs I had involved using pool cars. I always filled in
the log as I was pretty confident that I wouldn't get a ticket. Not
everyone complied which provided for a bit of entertainment when NIPs
    arrived.

  16. Same here. That's with dealers who know me, mind. And can therefore be
trusted to say: "Cor, no idea, guv, could be any of a dozen test
    pilots..." should it be necessary.

    Great.

    Well done you.

    Nonetheless.

You genuinely did not know who was driving.

The evidence they provided was no proof.

You put your hands up like a schoolboy who is told "You'll all be in
    detention if nobody confesses".

That is exactly the sort of behaviour that a bullying government relies
upon to deliver its form of collective punishment.

So yes, you have perverted the course of justice. As I said, well done
    you.

You can probably give them an uncomfortable moment or two on the course by
explaining that you may not have been speeding, but took the rap anyway.
