Me too and it'll certainly be happening, just a question of when and
    for how long.

When I've fixed a date I'll post it here. Others are free and more
than welcome to come along but people can organise their own trip and
    we'll meet somewhere near Dover.

    Checks vague-o-meter. That'll do nicely.

Actually he said "only wants to". Not a tremendous lure for less experienced
riders. It's what I liked about Tab actually: No matter how fast he was or
what a pissed up twat he was, he had nothing but confidence-inspiring
comments to make and a humility that made him really easy company. Which is
a far cry from some people who are happy to rip others to shreds seemingly
bent on pushing them beyond their abilities. Still, I guess the crashing
noises would alleviate the dullness when the ciggies finished. "If everyone
    was the same..."
    Fantastic.

It was precisely that aspect of Mat that made my ride out with him on
the Corden weekend so special. I will never forget the positive comments
he made about my bike riding because they said so much about him and his
attitude to people. One of those rare people who leave a positive
impression on you and no negative ones.

  5. Yes, but we racers have a different idea of danger to ordinary
    peoples'.

No probs. I'm really keen for others to come along but I don't have
the time or inclination to organise anything. I'll most likely plan
out a route in Northern France over a couple of days and find digs in
    whatever town I stop in.

On a similar tip, I'm considering a long weekend in Cornwall as per
my run in April. End of August / beginning of September...

NP. I shall be in Froggyland the week before and may extend my leave by
a week, anyway. I may even pop along to Chépy if I'm in the area.

    land so that's fine.

Is another man's idea of a joke. In retrospect, not very funny, but I
do hate it when people take me seriously.
I don't remember that. I _do_ remember that yellow harley on the wrong
side of the road in one of the gravel sections passing within a foot
or so of me in the opposite direction. Just before my 'slower than
Ginge' phase, as I'm sure you recall.

Oh, and watching Mike in my mirrors mount the central res that he
hadn't spotted as we were all overtaking a long line of traffic was
    quite amusing, too.

You did get a few seconds ahead, yes, although ISTR traffic being
involved. But who cares, it was just as much fun trying to catch you
back up. Fucking great road though.

Oh, was that the reason? We were all a bit puzzled at your decision.
As you know, we were more than happy for you to stick with us. Still,
you got the chance for another miles-per-day challenge, which you
    always seem to enjoy.

Bad form, and all, but I realise some folk have taken this a bit more
seriously than was intended, so I'd like to formally retract the
    following comment:
I was really only trying to wangle a way to make this point:
So I'd be more than happy to join up with any group that's coming down
my way this summer, fast or slow, and as ever you'd be welcome chez
nous. And I've got some _cracking_ routes worked out...
