    07:03 "Looks like Packer's is a non-starter. No spark."

    07:07 "Back in the game"

    10:05 "Fueling up in Hell."

10:34 "Day didn't start well. Bike refused to start at first light. Much
swearing followed. Diagnosed to no spark. Application of wd40 fixed
    it..." (Packer)

10:36 "... and then about 40km on effectively a sheet of ice. Seriously.
Thank god for studs. 75kmh on studs... 120km on and we are in Hell."

Not far from Trondheim. They are doing pretty well.

First objective and ultimate goal points have been added to the map with
different place markers. Google Maps JavaScript API V2 Overlays - what
fun. Now if I could just get fancier place marks to work with suitable
amusing icons, numbered sequentially, but object literal notation is
    fucking with my head.

Sounds like crappy Yamaha XT electrics. Again.

Not just XTs. Google for FJR ground spiders, ignition switches, altitude
    sickness (ECU), etc.

  11. Really? I'll take your word for it. Yamaha Diversions (mainly the 600s)
were also notorious for rapidly decaying electrics. Wonder what Yamaha's
    been playing at?

I believe Yamaha hired some sort of engineering co-op student and
put him/her in charge of the Gen II FJR electrics. No other earthly
    explanation seems to cover it.

currently camping at 20 m north of Grong (having knocked on someone's
door to ask if they could camp on their land).

only a minor incident after they'd parked up when a lorry decided to
plough into a VW on the wrong side of the road. The lorry driver tried
to blame the crew but the police looked at the marks on the road and
    told him where to go.

The arctic circle is 160 miles away with 150 mile to Mo I Rana.
though they're not sure if they'll make it tomorrow.

Temp is-5.5c but lots of issues with locks freezing - Andy had issues
getting into his pannier to get his camping stuff out...no panic at
    all ;o)

All now in tents having boiled snow to cook with.

Snowing outside, plan to leave once light. Temperature about -6 or
so. Feel too hot in sleeping bag.

    Awesome .. ;)

s'funny, I barely 'know' these guys at all, yet when I open the
newsreader I'm actually a little excited [1] to read where they are and
what's happened so far! Can't wait for each little snippet of news.

    [1] No, I don't mean sexually ...
