We've decided to stay where we are and go birthday binge drinking then
    head for home tomorrow.
I've fitted the 70 studs I'd kept in reserve so riding tomorrow may be
easier. I'd been slightly concerned about losing studs along the way
but none fell out so no need for reserves now.

I'm really gutted for you mate. I just saw some of the posts on twitter before
getting on to the NG. I can really understand your pain of getting so near, but
    so far.

Even so, you've done a damn good job and have done something that most people
wouldn't even consider. I raise my hat to you all for having the courage to
    even attempt it.

Saying that, you've obviously picked up a few things on route. Do you reckon
you'll try it again next time with different plans? You do realise that you're
all going to have to do a complete debrief on this to the NG?

Hats off again Andy et al. I'll get you a drink in on the French run.

No luggage is starting to cross the bounds of being fool-hardy though. What
happens _if_ something goes wrong? I hope that they'll have some kit to sort
    themselves out.

"we prioritize safety, no-one of us wants to end up under a trailer"

"as opposed to many foreign trailers, their MC's are shod with proper
    winter tyres"

The locals were obviously impressed with the rather adventurous trip!

I'll not be back again. It was an experience not to be missed but
    that's it for me.
We've still got to get back but we know what to expect and we've
plenty of time so it should be easier.
Excellent, I'll keep you to that.

Good call. It's still a brilliant achievement. "Long Way Round", "Long
Way Down", now "Long Way Up in Winter". I bet Ewan and Charlie don't try
    it.

  10. It was wasn't it? Not sure why Alex wasn't in the photo. I don't recall
    him being camera shy ;-)

They're all mad but they've at least had the balls to do it.

BGN, former member of this parish, inquired if they'd be willing to be
    interviewed by the Saga magazine[1].

    The response...

"Tell the fairy godmother to **** off"

    Had me chuckling all day.

Or when I asked they said they didn't insure motorbikes.

    So go for it!

Had another look at the webcam near the arctic circle to see when it
actually gets dark, and spotted some locals returning to home base for
    the night:
