thingys, but this crap newsreader wouldn't do it and I'm too lazy to
work it out. So there.

I had cause to do that the other night - foul conditions: gusting near
a gale, throwing big handfuls of chunky rain, bits of tree whirling
about, that ugly sort of night when you're grateful for a tin roof and
toughened glass all round. I turned my headlights on three times
(after I'd already turned them on, obviously) as they appeared to be
doing nothing. The fourth time, I turned them off and discovered that
they were actually doing quite a lot, really. Turned 'em back on for
the fifth time, gave up and drove more slowly.

The OP might be interested to know that if you simply type:

72F in C or 72F in C

into the Google search bar[1], the number you're seeking will magically
appear, even before pressing the Enter key if you have Google so
configured.

I've managed to get rather comfortable with doing conversions in my
head using a variety of methods depending on my state of mind and
how accurate the answer needs to be. But not everyone is similarly
inclined, so I usually express temperatures in °C in UKRM and °F
elsewhere, or include both. (ALT+248 on the number pad = ° symbol
in Windows).

[1] Or just the normal address bar in Chrome. I have already sold
my soul to Google so I love this feature.

 

I happen to know a bit about this from attempting to commute ~17 miles at
temperatures around freezing. I would not have even attempted the journey
you intrepid adventurers did without also having heated gloves in addition
to the stuff you mentioned.

Oops, sorry. With a Mac the cut, copy & paste commands are much easier
than with windows, so I usually don't engage my brain into copying a
