As there might be some who may wonder if we're simply going on a package
holiday to Toremelinos as a reward for fucking about with a load of shite
(mine and Alex's case) old (my case) trail bikes for what seems an age
    (everyone).

    There's a Twitter feed to follow: @nordkapp11

There you'll find out if we actually get to Nordkapp or just at least
achieve my goal of camping in the Arctic circle and seeing the Northern
    Lights.

Hopefully someone'll post highlights here, for the dinosaurs amongst

I'm indebted to you. So much of this passes me by.

Will there be a live updating map of where you actually are using a
smartphone and GPS (when you have a signal - which is a prerequisite for
the tweet anyway)? Alternatively I can give you access to a Google Maps
API mashup what I wrote to log your position, leave a pithy comment and
upload a photo (though it would be a pain to use without at least a
    netbook screen).

I remember there was a convoluted news feed for the 2009 Elefant Run,
which involved Signals Officer Murray and Corporal Sweller sending SMS
messages to Champ, who sifted the messages, censored the bits that
compromised national security, corrected the spelling errors, and then
posted the result on ukrm. It worked. When I got back I remember
    laughing at the thread myself.

Much more entertaining, with opportunities for "send three and
    fourpence" moments.

It's not as if we are going to the Antarctic. It is a civilized European
    country
with petrol stations with free Wi-Fi, mobile networks and all manor of
other modern infrastructure and conveniences we demand as EU citizens
these days. I'm sure that information will be relayed directly back.

'cept we'll not be bothering with all that 'Tally-ho, chocks away'
war time bollocks. Well. Bonwick might. He's a bit impressionable
that way. The rest of us (tho I can't speak for Mark) are just going
to get on with it. Packer most likely has plans to kill, skin and eat
the locals and burn things, Simon will be proselytizing and I will be
seated in a ditch somewhere with my bike some distance away (upside-down).
That is of course if I'm there. I may yet end up, instead, on a two
week bender in Bridgnorth drowning my sorrows if this sodding bike
doesn't get sorted in the next two days.

Of course the "right" thing to do would be for each of you to have your
own account, and one of you create a list containing those accounts.
Then anyone can follow the list, and it'll be obvious who's tweeted
    what.

AOL. I must say, though, tht if anything Twitter is worse than I
expected. I thought that posts might be vaguely intelligible, but it
    seems I was wrong.

hey, it's pretty nearly on topic for ukrm (the Black Emperors that the
band are/were named after were a '70s Japanese bike gang (http://
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Speed_You!_Black_Emperor)).
yes - I remember being very disappointed with it - I could do a much
better one with the material I now have to work with. Or
alternatively, just repeatedly alternatingly listen to Biosphere's
"Subtrata 2" - and Mr.Scruff's "Keep it Unreal"; that'd about sum it
    up.

I don't "do" twitter, but they have a website, where you can connect and
look at the updates posted to a certain account. These webpages also have
RSS feeds, if you're a bit up on your tech, but not quite nerdy enough for
    the full social networking experience.
