  1. And this time he's not getting back up, then falling over again.

    Thank ****.

Bugger. I quite enjoyed Norman Wisdom in me youf. I met him a couple of
times at the National Theatre. Lovely bloke he was.

He was working though. My dad did some work for him probably 20 or so
years ago, and apparently outside of the world of performing he was
    something of a miserable ****.

I should have made myself clearer. I was working in the NT at the time
he was there. I met him on a social basis and he wasn't actually
performing. My experience was different to your old man.

Yeah, perhaps because you weren't doing work for him.

  7. I dunno. I didn't go for his sort of comedy, but he was brilliant at
what he did and anyone who continues working up to the age of 95 has OK
    in my book.

And the Romanians loved him ;-)

It's also the passing of an era - when Leslie Phillips goes that'll
finally close the days of black and white popular culture.

IIRC, he went there during their bust up and both sides put down their
    weapons to meet him.

Picked them back up quickly enough when he left - not sure what that says.

There was a documentary a couple of years back that followed his family
trying to work out what to do with the demented showbiz fucker. He just
seemed totally baffled whenever he met someone who a) didn't know who he
was and b) didn't think he was absolutely hilarious. Which means a)
anyone under the age of 50 and b) everyone else.

Flash Harry is still going, although most people will associate him with
