As discussed in a thread up there somewhere. This ridiculous plan is
the one (plausible) thing UKRM has failed to deliver on.

    Original thread here

    http://groups.google.co.uk/group/uk...8faed/efbaa2b96116586b?hl=en#efbaa2b96116586b

I bought the Benly specifically to do this. I intend to do it in 2010
setting off from the BOSM on the Sunday morning.

Nearly 5 years on from the original suggestion.

The excuses about hating the cold don't work for this one. Largest
number of people doing stupidly long trips is 7 for the elephant in
    2008.

Let's see if we can get double figures for this one.

That's not true. UKRM does Mugello was a larger group, and further
    away... 2003 ish, I'd guess.

Didn't that group take the long ferry though? That's why I discounted
    it.

No, we rode from Calais to Switzerland on day 1, then on to Italy on
Day 2. On day 3, we rested, which I suppose makes us 5 days more
    efficient than god.

    We were awesome.

It went Dover to Calais and I don't think you were even posting here
at the time, that might be why you discounted it.

It was 2001 btw, not 2003.

  8. Things have changed a tad down here, as in one of the puticlubs has
closed down, but we still have the other. The expensive hotel has also
closed, but the camping (they have cabins with showers and evfink) is
good, as is the "Casa Rural" a few yards down the road from my house.

  9. I'd be *WELL* up for that trip. Mainly because it involves buying and
speccing a new bike for it. And for the adventure. And that.

    What could possibly go wrong...
As the original says, any bike is welcome. Though if we're going up to
400 then the temptation to use the ZXR would be strong, however the
    Benly is the prefered steed.

Sometime in April. Loz have you fixed a date?
    No idea.
There's a couple of UKRMMA on the way down.

  15. Assuming you're not he, has anyone seen Sean of CG fame lately?

I would think that he might be up for this.

I'd like to do this one, but I can't afford another bike, ATM, so I'd
have to do it on the K11...

    Hmm - thats just cheating.
I was thinking more along the lines of a C90GS.
Anyway 2 weeks in april might be out for me as I have a 6 month
    contract
starting january and I want to visit bavaria again.
    Damn.

Hmm, 17th April (thanks Adie). Tricky if they renew my contact.
Aye, it's getting like the St Jaques de Compostela route. We'll have to
put UKRM spangly stickers on our gates.
