Unusual subject for me, I know - but does anyone have one, or know of
the whereabouts of a Dominator with a featherbed frame?

1950s to 1970s, condition largely immaterial.

Not for me, onbviously, but in my new role as Village Biker (there's an
"r" on that, mofo) a very nice lady just asked me on behalf of her
ex-husband who sorely wants one. He has an engine to go in it, as he
    wants to race it.

    Go on, check yer barns.

Pot o' gold territory that is. Would a 350 Morini frame do?
Lets see - Nortonini rolls off the tongue OK.

    Scarce as rocking horse shit.

ISTR reading about a small company somewhere who still build Tritons.
They must be getting frames from somewhere or probably making them.

Hmm, ISWYM, but the conventional bitza nomenclature usually puts the
motive power element first. Hence my Rotarini.

  9. Yes, fair comment.

Has anyone ever built a Norumph?

  10. It's getting bit ginger, that link. Even b3ta has it.

    (Still bloody good, mind).

  11. Oh. I'd not seen it before, here or elsewhere.

I just checked the Gingeometer and indeed it was posted, by Jim, but
    google shows no replies.

  12. Frame looks like a Yamaha EXUP to me, but I can't see enough of the
    engine. KLR650?

Reverse cylinder TZ250 frame (is that the same as an EXUP?). Motor is a
Honda CRF450. It goes very well already, and he reckons he may be able
to coax 70 BHP out of it. You could do that with the Gilera Bialbero
    558, but not for long.

Hill climbing is still one of the last bastions of bitza builders.
Mostly modified Honda big singles or Aprila 450 or 550 v twins for the
    serious riders these days though.

No idea on the frame but the engine's a CRF450.

The Triumph-isti joke was that "they built Tritons because Triumph
made good engines and Norton made good frames. No-one needed to make
a Norumph because BSA were already making them".

I think it was usually motive part first, unless it sounded better the
other way. Vinton sounds like a cough medicine….

Heh, one or two Tribsas about though.

In fact, I do have a complete 77 Morini 350 cast wheel rolling chassis
surplus to requirements as I now remember that the rear wheel sprocket
carrier is completely different to a 2C and so of no use as a spare. I
will probably break it. This breaking larks's good innit TOG? - 53 quid
for two manky 3 1/2 side panels. I even got 16 quid for the silencer
from the 79 SWM Enduro that's been cluttering up the shed for years.

The problem is that the frame has no V5. The engine that came with it
has a matching number though so I'm pretty sure it's kosher. I've seen
all kinds of motors shoe-horned in to them including big singles. OK, so
it's not UD forks and mono-shick, but if someone fancied building a
Forgotten Era racer special using something with more power than a More
in 1 it would be good starting point.

Indeed. A mate has had a Thunderbird engine in an A10 frame in the
making in his shed for longer than I can remember...

No, but knowing Doug, something suitably tasty and not cheap. Note the
Brembo calipers (another Nordwest possibly donated it's conventional
    wisdom best feature)

One of my wife's girlfriends has one and you can't have it!
How about the Benelli 354 Sport in my shed?
I wonder if my gixxer engine would fit.
