    I don't think I've done a yank; a 2 x Canadians, yeah (18 for both).

Oh and an Antiguan (18, 19-27). And a Kiwi (29) (who was a fat
    Lesbian, so that was weird).

Loads of NI plastic paddies, of course.

    Some others I've forgotten.

My neighbour collapsed in the street near waterloo with similar
symptoms, rushed to hospital. Eventually sorted, severe constipation.
    20/20 hindsight is wonderful.

To be fair, Caz has Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, first diagnosed aged
11 months. She's had four new heart valves fitted and had two heart
attacks, the first when she was 19, the second aged 21.

I have the same condition, but to nowhere near as bad a level as Caz
does. Mine was only diagnosed after my second attack, which was 18
months after Caz was born. Until then we'd put my first one down to
hugely excessive drinking, heavy smoking, not sleeping and general
    teenage shenanigans.

    Grimly Curmudgeon spoke:
Yes, I bumped into someone the other day who I hadn't seen for about a
year, and he told me he'd had a heart attack and subsequently a triple
    bypass op.

He is a tall-ish, slim, non-smoking 40-something, who had got out of IT
sales and realised his dream and started his own interior design
consultancy, so life was relatively stress free.

    <thinks>

  17. I was just nudging 11 stone when I had my bypass. Which was seriously fat
    **** territory for me.

Now I am a slim, trim, less than 10 and easily back into 32 inch keks
which is still a little large but without a serious attempt at muscle tone
probably something I shall just have to live with.

    Ooh, that's what J's got.
Anyway, this was my point, that other factors, in this case congenital
defects, are often the cause, rather than the lifestyle things being
    discussed.
Jude's was spotted by a sharp-eyed anaesthetist on an EKG before
surgery, then diagnosed afre various scans and monitorings. Seems that
it's an area of heart wall well enough away from the valves to not
interfere with them, and that it's not causing any actual problem.
She's advised just to slow down if she gets out of breath and/or
racing pulse, but otherwise no special precautions needed.

In her case it's not possible to be sure about the cause - it could be
congenital like yours (but as she's adopted there's no family history)
or possibly a result of an unnoticed minor heart attack at some point
in her life. In any case, it's not getting any worse, and it's clear
that it has been that way for quite some time, so she's not overly
    worried.
