Well, it would be a cunning plan

.... except that there's no smoke, just blue sky

But where would the panniers go?

    I'd stick a K4 back end on.

Tailpack and tank bag you clown.

I'm wondering how I'm supposed to get 11 days worth of clothing in a
tailpack when I go on holiday this year but the fact that I've got a
spare seat unit sitting here at home means I don't have to give a ****
about any damage caused by panniers.

Depends what you consider essential and what you can pick up on the way.

Underkecks and other stuff can be grabbed in a supermarket on the way.
How's about one of those webbby mats, that sit under the panniers? I've
seen ToG and a couple of others using them.

Or you could use a towel or some other cloth.

It's not scratching the tail I'm worried about, it's the height of the
end can and the fact that the standard can gets very fucking hot. I've
got a Scorpion can on now and that may not get as hot but I'll still
have to lift the panniers up a lot to clear it.

It's amazing how much luggage you can get on a Daytona...

Isn't the CAT in the exhaust on the 10R. That'll be what causes the
heat so the new can should run a lot cooler.

Does the new can come with a link pipe? IMO the standard link pipe is
damn ugly and ruins the look on the 10R.

It was a reference to Loz's criteria of always being able to fit
panniers to a sportsbike which can't be done on a K5.

I've had the same thought on the K5. I struggled with our four day
trip to France. Panniers and the K5 don't work. I need to get
    'inventive'.

Is it just the depth of the panniers that causes the problem?

If so some of those oxford humpback ones might work as they sit very
    high compared to normal panniers.

That and the general shape. My Givi ones just splayed out almost
horizontal due to the width of the rear end. I need to put more than
five minutes thought into it which is all I did before France.

Burn the ugly K5/6 back end more like. I've grown to like the exhaust,
but the tailpiece still looks gash in extremis, and my boot catches it
    [1] as I get off, doesn't it?

    [1] Sorry about that.

It's more a question of just how weird the shape of the back end is on
the K5/6. Panniers just don't fit them. If I bought a K5/6 I'd want to
keep my K1 so I could tour on it, but I can't justify the expense of two
    Gixer Thous.

I know what it was, that's why I posted exactly what you used to cart
your stuff to France when we went over.

I wasn't taken with the styling at first but I honestly think
everything else looks portly and old fashioned now. Buy one and
    you'll agree with me )
No probs. You weren't the first and won't be the last.

Get Sarah to fly with a load of stuff? Failing that get her to pass
her test and ride her own bike over or just tell her to shut the ****
up and carry the biggest rucksack you can buy.

If we don't sell our gaff a second bike is a definite option for me
for the TT, especially since Sarah will be there for race week.
