They are a LEARNER driver, and hey have to start to learn sometime. I
suppose sitting in the car with their parents and seeing them slam the
anchors on whenever a speed camera pops up is what they're used to.

Do you feel that the instructor told the pupil to slam the anchors on?

The answer, as I mentioned a while ago, is not to overtake them, but to come
up behind them in a big, rough, noisy old car without numberplates, and
nudge them from behind until they're going fast enough.

Local authorities already have the power to impose lower limits, and there
are financial incentives for them to do so wherever possible. Presumably
any road that still has a 60 limit is considered safe enough, and is
unlikely to show a reduction in accidents if this legislation goes ahead.

Yebbut, only one way to find out if a lower limit reduces road deaths
    further, isn't there?

    Humm, that's probably why they're a 50 and not a 30. ;-)

Regrettably, this means that the new policy will have an inevitable
    effect.

And you'll all be paying to feed me for the whole twenty years of my
sentence after I've finally gone postal and beaten one of the fuckwitted
scum to death with their leather-bound copy of the Highway Code.

I'm wondering this 50 limit thing was done partly to get a reduction in
CO2 emissions from transport. Must have been a factor in the decision
    process surely?

A 110 Land Rover Defender with a large turbo yank V8 diesel in it is
favourite for that. I heard a story about someone who did that to a
local boy racer while towing a trailer up a hill. Said boy racer car got
pushed along sideways for a bit, then slid off into a ditch.

Indeed... only works if people don't drive around in first and second gear
    though. ;-)

This is confusing me because if someone 'nudged' me to encourage me to
go faster they'd better hope they don't have to stop at a roundabout
or a set of lights where I can catch them up because I'll sure as shit
put them into an ICU for a few days or end up in one myself because I
    took on the wrong person.

Seriously, I'd use a 24" breaker bar on someones head if they did that
to me and I'm certainly not alone in the way I'd react to a scenario
    like that.

Yeah, but you're not a 35-in-a-60-limit coffin dodger, are you? Anyway, if
I was going to do something like that, I'd have a Glock in the car just in
case somebody cut up rough on me.

What's my post got to do with being a vigilante?

Look it up in a dictionary and you'll see why I used it previously and
why you've not quite got it right.

    Thanks for your effort.

I came close once, overtaking a stream of traffic, so nowhere to pull
into and being at ~85 in a car on the m25 I didn't want to go any
faster. Cunty bollocks came from behind at warp speed got all flashy
and shouty, seemed to be having a bit of a fit from my view through
    the mirror.

Good job his reactions were OK, 'cos I lost in and braked hard down to
about 30[1] causing much weaving and tyre squealing from him. He did
back off then and I was quite prepared to lump the **** if an
    opportunity arose.

[1] I realise how stupid this was but I lost the plot for a bit.

It wasn't an original story. It was a suggestion.

    Smart thinking.

Get 8-9 thousand Gatzo cameras installed and then lower the speed limit.
Need more money? Lower the limits again. What a novel way to increase a
tax on the public with the twist on "public safety."

Too bad the UK is turning into a massive dystopian state and the public
allows it. It would make Judge Dread proud.

Yeh, agree. It's use of a weapon isn't it? A very nice V8 diesel Land
Rover weapon. I nudged the bloke in the Saab, because I wanted to force
him off the road. I did have a valid reason, the guy tried to kill me a
    few minutes before hand.

Or drive like they do normally, tail gate then... accelerate, brake,
accelerate, brake, acceler... and so on.. or do traffic light races. It
must have some affect reducing the speed limits. May even compensate for
the pollution those traffic calming speed bumps cause.
