  1. No way ..... I have 3 high powered and high performance bikes which are well
    over 1000cc
    I also have a 5.4 Litre V8 coon car , a 5 litre V8 Fairylane and a 6
    cylinder 4 litre Falcoon ute
    You would charge me more

As it's about 3rd party injuries, the premium should be the same for
all pillion bikes, which should be about twice that of bikes that
can't take pillions, and probably 1/10th of the premium for a small
    car.

As they've been fudging figures for years to avoid thinking about
which vehicles *cause* 3rd party injuries compared to those which
inflict them this will not happen.

Instead you get a massive amount of blame the victim because a) the
paperwork is easier and b) the private car is sacred.

    I sure would!

    At one time I used to have a 6 litre (360 c.i.) V8 wagon, which I used
to tow a trailer with race car, and carry all the tools and spares and
stuff to and from race meetings.

That's the only time I felt the need for such otherwise excessive power.

    What's your excuse? :)

BTW, what is a 5.4 litre coon car? One of those wee yank tanks that
should be driven by well suntanned pimps?

Yes, Nev, it should reflect the risk, but to do that effectively it
would have to be based on the rider, rather than the motorbike, apart
from the obvious pillion/no pillion split.

Isn't that what they do in the UK? Rider insurance not bike
insurance? Thus making it almost impossible for anyone under 25 to
get a bike bigger than 125?

They certainly used to, and I think they still do.

Not only does it limit (by pricing) the size of engine that a rider may
have, but it also, effectively, makes folk with really bad accident
    records uninsurable.

Whether that would work here, now, I dunno.

It doesn't work as there are daily cases of people riding out of class
with no insurgence or road tax which short of imprisonment cant be stopped

Happens here too, ask any copper or magistrate.

While the culture says personal motorised transport is a right, it
    will continue to happen.

Fact is the nanny has taken over and I for one would like to have that
change assuming people can actually accept responsibility for self action
This does mean the authorities have a lot less power but self defence
    once again becomes a right

    It goes like this, Nev.

I'd like to see a fairer system for third party insurance for
motorbikes, but, I am not about to hold my breath until it happens,
since there is no will for such a fair system to come to pass.

I, also, personally, reckon that a motorcycle rider who can't manage to
ride about quite happily with less than 1800 cc is probably a total
wanker, which is fine by me, so long as they pay more..... which is what
the latest changes to the NSW G/S scheme is proposing and I support.

One is a bue-sky proposition, the other, a measure which is going to
happen, and fits in with my personal beliefs. ;-)

I feel that there should be a "decibel multiple" applied to the base
premium, to encourage the retention of factory exhausts and mufflers. :)

  16. Do you mean that for a single cylinder, the Db rate would be 75 Db
meaning that for a four cylinder motor, you could have 300Db?

Why not keep it simple, as in WA?

    Motor cycle
Other than motor cycles included in classes 5(b) and 7(a) (private)
    $138.93

5(b) refers to trade vehicles, and 7(a) is for vintage and scooter
    riders.

7(a) Veteran cars, wagons and motor cycles
Motor cycles - not exceeding 75 cc (If the motor cycle is used as a
HIRE VEHICLE the premium is increased by 100%)
    $22.00

That that sound OK for a Z50?

    Rego is also simple
    Motorcycle (not exceeding 250 cc)
    $33.34
    Motorcycle (exceeding 250 cc)
    $50.02

I think it's totally unreasonable to have to pay $205 per annum for
the Norge when a Z50 would cost me $70.
