[NSW] GRO Racing Sep and Nov

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Lucy Bartlett, Jul 28, 2004.

  1. OK all you racer girls out there...here's the chance you have been waiting
    for!

GRO Racing has a 2 round championship series coming up VERY soon. This email
contains all the info you need to enrol for the GRO Racing Series. Also the
6 hour is only just round the corner, but we will organise the 6 hour as a
seperate event...a post about that will follow shortly.

    So...a bit of info:

There will be 2 race meets at Oran Park - one on the 26th September and
another on the 14th November. Each round will comprise of 3 races. We expect
to be racing the full GP circuit - which is being confirmed now.

You don't have to enter into all 6 races, we are aware that the Snowy Ride
clashes with the races on the 14th November - can't be helped I'm afraid. So
if you only want to enter the 3 races on the 26th September - no problemo.

Introduction Seminar: We will be having an information seminar on the
Monday, 9th August from 6.30 - 8.30pm held at Frasers Motorcycles on
Parramatta Rd, Homebush. If you have not raced before, then this session is
    compulsory.

If you are an experienced racer and possess a current racing licence, then
please contact me () if you choose not to attend this
seminar. You will be required to arrange your own race entry directly with
MCRC, and your own membership of GRO & BEARS (if necessary).

Costs: We will be asking for full payment at the seminar. Which brings me
    to...

    Race Entry $ 90.00
One Day Senior Club Licence* $ 45.00 (you will need 2 of these
to race in the whole series)
    OR Senior National Licence * $ 253.00
    BEARS Membership $ 30.00
    GRO Membership $15.00

If you are already a member of GRO, and/or already a member of BEARS and/or
you already possess a valid race licence, you do not need to pay for these
    things again (obviously).

*You can either get a One Day Licence (or 2 One Day Licences for both race
meets) or a Senior National Licence. If you are planning on doing the 6 hour
and any other racing in the next year, then it would be cheaper to get the
Senior National Licence which also allows you to ride on private practice
    days.

Please bring payment in cash to the seminar, the exact amount if possible
    please.

Motorcycles: Any capacity and "breed" of bike can be entered. We all race
together - 1000cc with 250cc, road bikes with track bikes. At the moment
there are not enough of us to make seperate classes. At the rate we are
growing it won't be long before we will be splitting up though! You will
learn at the seminar what you will need to do to make you bikes race legal.

Essential Protective Gear: Motorcycling Australia (MA) has very strict rules
about protective gear. You will require full leathers (one-piece or
    zip-together 2-piece), AS1698 approved helmet, motorcycling boots,
motorcycling gloves and back protector. These items are compulsory!

Not essential but a very good idea: Tyre warmers, front and rear stands. It
is up to you to purchase/borrow/steal these items.

Track days: We strongly advise that you attend a couple of track days before
the races. It is important to know what it feels like to be on a track with
other riders. We are not making this compulsory, but for your own sake it
would be a good idea. There are plenty of track days happening. Moto
Concepts are running girls only track sessions on the 26th August at Eastern
Creek as well as all their other days, also check out Circuit Breakers,
Filco, Champions and Australian Superbike School track days.

T-shirts: We will be selling GRO Racing T-shirts for you and your "crew" at
a cost of $15 each. They will be red and white this time. The T-shirts are
unisex not fitted. The deadline for orders is the 6th August. "Crew"
T-shirts might be available to purchase on the race days, subject to
availability. It would be best for you to pre-order to make sure you get the
sizes and numbers you would like. So please let me know how many of which
sizes you would like. I will let you know details of how to pay for these
    later.

Buddies: If you would like someone with more experience to help you prepare
your bike and give you advice then please let me know and I can (possibly)
organise someone to meet you. If you know an experienced racer who wants to
volunteer as a buddy, please let me know. On the day we will be in pits next
to the BEARS racing team who will be around to calm our nerves and help us
    through the day.

What I need from you by 6th August:

    - Name, email address, phone number
    - Which race licence you possess OR
Which race licence you would like to apply for (please make it clear)
    - Whether you want to enter one or both rounds
    - Numbers and sizes of T-shirts
    - Prefered race number - some numbers are not available, but I'll advise you
of that later. Any of you who raced before will still need to advise. The
MCRC have final say over which numbers we can use.

I need you to send me the above info even if you have already registered
your interest with me or raced with GRO Racing before.

We don't really have a limit on the numbers that can enter - but if we get
above 35 we may have to run a split grid. However, I really do need final
numbers by the 6th August. So come on! Hit the reply button and enrol now!

    See you all soon,
    Lucy Bartlett
