I think the 'moratorium' was on the general roll out to all customers.
It was getting too far behind because of the demand from people
installing solar panels. We had to wait three months for ours, but we
were part of the last flurry of people who snuck into the full rebate.
It should be better by now.

Since we are in NSW, as I understand it, we get a separate, grid-input
meter, so as we can get the higher price for "our" electricity.

Now, how long this state of affairs may last <shrug> ... Who knows?

The new meter still hasn't arrived, but I guess a day or two of pissing
it down rain might slow down fiddling with electricity boxes out in the
    open.

As I understand it, and I may very well be wrong, in NSW they have a
magic number of Megawatts as a target output total for the home solar
power generation deal, and, once that target number is reached the deal
    stops.

I haven't been to a meeting for a bit - as said in another posting I
am having trouble getting to the meetings and someone needs to step up
    to take my place.

I wouldn't be surprised that someone on the internet said someone else
wanted to beat the crap out of a third person.

Given that the only qualification for being an MCC delegate is finding
a bunch of people who agree you represent them I also wouldn't be
surprised if there was one or more delegates that someone considered a
a loudmouthed idiot deserving of a thumping. Human beings and all that.

In fact I bet there are delegates who have said they want to beat
Boris up. (And people who aren't delegates. The bloke makes a living
saying things to encourage people in that line of thinking)

If a political lobby group has meetings that are all sweetness and
light and everyone agreeing over everything then you have a lobby
group that's either two people and one owes the other money, or
someone's holding a gun on 'em. Getting to the point of actually
beating someone up is probably more about bad manners and beer than
anything important, saying someone wants to beat someone up is like
saying politicians are rodents, happens all the time, and means about
    as much.

just got a 2.5 kw system in NSW

it's a Gross tariff - there are two meters in the box, one for what we use
and one for the total we produce - basically, all the energy from the solar
goes straight onto the grid and we buy back what we use.

This is fine however, because although they put us on time-of-use metering,
the peak rate is 35c/kW/h, and our solar pays *Gross* 60c/kW/h
they are in NSW, at least ours is.

    Who told you that?

If you'd like to pop round and look at mine, it has a neat display that
cycles through a number of readings, including peak kwh imported,
Off-peak kwh imported and kwh exported.

It detects and records the direction of any flow.

What it misses is any electricity that we generate and consume, so that
if the panels are generating 1 kw, and we are using 3kw in the house,
the meter shows 2kw being imported. If we were only using .4 kw, the
meter would record .6 kw being exported.

According to the guy who installed it, mine also has time-based tariffs.
Maybe he doesn't know, but he spent a while explaining to me the
benefits of doing washing etc after hours or on the weekend.

  8. Then I must have a bi-directional meter
as even though it shows that I have produced 1300 kilowatts of power from
the panels, I have only exported 417 kilowatts to the grid

There was a fair turnout in Bennelong in '07.

You misspelled panels, and I have six. I used to know how many plnaets
the solar system has, but now I'm not sure.

Sorry to dissappoint but I have had a smart meter for ten years and it
was upgraded a year ago to a smart bidirectional meter.

    Geez, you are good Theodore

The "smart meter" was only announced a year or so ago and you have had one
    for ten years
Do I bow to you now or ten years ago ??

OK. Maybe Smart metres and Bidirectional meters are different things
in Vic. In WA I've had time of day billing for ten years. We have four
time of day rates, Peak, Off-Peak, Shoulder and weekend rates. Our
bidirectional smart meters measure export to the grid on each of those
four rates, and crediting me with the export energy at the cost of
those rates less the GST. My meter does not measure total solar
generation as the solar energy is connected between the meter and the
    house.

I've had a Smart Time-of-use meter for ten years George. Other people
in WA have had Smart meters long before that. I had one installed for
the work server room a few years before I had one at home. When I had
thwe solar panels installed ladst June the meter was swapped out for a
bidirectional Smart meter. I was certainly not the first person to get
    one.

It's hardly my fault if they were not invented in Vic until last year.

    There was indeed! :)

    Including me....

We managed to get rid of wee Johnny, now, with any luck, we can get rid
    of Maxine.

If we piss her off now, she won't get all the superannuation and pension
    perks, I hope.

But, this isn't voting FOR someone, this is voting AGAINST someone.
