NSW: Ride To Work Day

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Zebee Johnstone, Oct 13, 2006.

  1. Ride to work on the first of November. The more who do, the more the
    pollies have to take notice.

Note - if you work in Sydney CBD or even go through it or work near
it, turn up and claim a parking space even if it's only for a short
time. Get out and show the numbers.

Ride to Work on 1 Novemeber
    http://www.mccofnsw.org.au/a/185.html

    - Show your workplace that you ride by turning up in riding gear
    - Many see riders as faceless scary "things", not as people
    - Be there
    - Put your bike on the road on Wednesday 1 November and show it with
    pride !

    Why Ride To Work?
    - less pollution,
    - less congestion
    - less fuel
    - more fun !

The City of Sydney is providing riders with lots of parking for the day.
Thank you to the Independent politicians of Sydney.

By using this opportunity, we can show:-

    - The large numbers of people that WOULD ride if they could park
    - That riders are here in big numbers and we vote
    - With a Big Presence, we COMMAND attention from government
    - We are not out there protesting,
    - We are out there DEMONSTRATING how useful and popular motorcycles
    are
    - We are out there CELEBRATING our choice to ride

6 am to 10am to secure your all-day parking space - there's plenty of
space Hickson Road (Hungry Mile) Follow directions from rider Marshalls

    Ditto.
I'd probably start punching people if I didn't get the 30mins "me" time
every morning and arvo to put my brain in order.

Actually I'd prefer is less people rode. The more poeple that ride, the more
idiots you get, the more that pollies notice, the more regulation we will
get. Governments never help, they only hurt.
It's much better to be too small to notice and continue living a reasonbly
happy existence without government interference. As long as people like the
ones in this group continue to act as a community and act responsibly, we'll
do just fine without government help.

Yeah, I've found not riding is really bad for my mental health
    (literally).

(the longer I go without riding the more likely I am to get depressed)

It's odd for me... I've been doing commuting riding and riding the
recumbent, and so it's not precisely bike withdrawal symptoms, but
it's also not all that happy.

Take the Yam out for a burn and yeehah!

So it's either "haven't ridden it for years so it's just like a new
bike" or "commuting the same bloody 20km doesn't do it".

Mind you, I really like riding the bent, so that's probably helping.
If I was not on any kind of 2 wheels I'd be in a bad way.
