As part of the process wherein I've given Big Nasty advice on orthopaedic
seating and torsional rigidity, I've also flung my crap Nokia corporate moby
back in their teeth, and selected a lean, black housebrick from my
collection of classic wireless telephones. If anyone wants to update their
database with my current number, email me. Hurry, hurry, limited
    availability, while stocks last etc.

Quite recently. Things got a bit lively when the client pointed out that my
departure didn't absolve my former employer of their contractual
    responsibilities.
    But there's more. Much more.

Would that involve contracting rates for you to finish the job?

It may well do. I had a chat with my ex-oppo today, and my absence does
    appear to have been noticed.

Now is a good time to tell you about the contractor I know from the
large project I worked on 4 years ago.. and the fact he's still on the
books, at a quite frankly obscene hourly rate.

    What's your definition of obscene?

It depends on the work involved.

The chap in question is earning several times the going contract rate
for his skillset. He can demand it simply because he's the last person
left that knows the past 6 or 7 years of history in a particular niche
area where that kind of thing is important.

I'll see how desparate they are when this contract ends - although it feels
like one that's likely to get extended. I have, in the weeks leading up to
my departure, shared a jest with the service manager about how much might be
needed to tempt me back for a few days.
Somebody was telling me that I might have a fairly good constructive
dismissal case. Depends on whether I cn be arsed to seek advice, I suppose.

It will also depend of whether you totally exhausted the grievance
    procedure before you left.

If you didn't, you're dead in the water.

I've apparently got 90 days after date of departure to do the grievance
thing. But really, I can't be doing with it.

Good call. Much betterer to get a nice juicy contract out of them.

Doesn't really answer the question; 500 quid a day or 5000?

Even if you did and win the case I suspect that entering into this sort
of legal action could leave your career dead in the water.

Eh? It's me that's asking the question. I'll decide whether the actual
