NYPD Blue

Have I really just watched the last ever episode [1] of NPYD Blue?

An absolutely excellent television series - I shall miss it.

[1] recorded Tuesday night on More4.

I watched the penultimate one last night, with the last one waiting on my
    TiVo.
Quite. I've been a fan for years. With any luck they'll repeat it from
the beginning, although I don't think I could sit through the Bobby
    episode again.

  3. As I had not noticed that it was a double episode I failed to activate
the video prior to 21.00 so I missed the first 20 mins or so of the
    penultimate episode.

I won't say anything about the last episode but I shed a few tears - mad
    I know.
The "death bed" one? That was a bit hard I agree.

Unfortunately C4 have managed to squirrel NYBD Blue off into the
twilight times so I have not managed to fully watch the last 3 series.
While you can still pick things up I have missed a fair number of
    episodes.

I could quite happily watch it all again from the start but I doubt C4
will show it. There was a brief re-run on FX on satellite but that was
back in the very early series and then they stopped.

The C4 motherfuckers dumped it altogether and left to to More Four to
start showing it last year - the last three seasons, 2 years after the
last season was broadcast in the US. I have shed many expletives in
    the meantime.

Probably my absolute most favourite TV show and it's long run is a
total "**** you" to David Caruso who thought he was too good for it
and went off to flop in films before staggering back to play another
plank in CSI Miami. Denis Franz made and held that show together for
years, and the final episode was brilliant. I've loved watching his
journey from washed up drunk to mentor.

BTW - it's repeated on More Four on Sunday as you missed one episode.
More Four might - they're re-running it's excellent predecessor Hill
Street Blues weekdays at the moment, as well as ER, so there must be a
    chance.

  5. Hello Snowy - I thought / hoped you'd pop up.
I didn't know that More 4 had been showing the last 3 seasons. What is
more confusing is that C4 kept a reference to the series even though
they weren't showing it on the main channel.
Certainly one of my favourites too. I can happily rewatch any episode
and love it all over again. I enjoyed David Caruso's character on the
show but I agree it probably wasn't the best career move. Denis Franz
has been outstanding and I fully share your thoughts about the last
episode and his character's progression. It was the comments made by
the detectives to him as the new boss as the show came to an end that
made me burst into tears - touched a bit of a raw nerve as well sparking
    admiration for what he'd become.
I can live in hope then.

  6. Oh well at least I'm not alone on that score.
Thanks - still only 4 seasons worth on release. There have been 12 or is
    it 13 seasons of shows?
    I don't own a DVD player !

12 apparently, and only four available. Not good.

    However, your starter for fifteen:

I see what you mean, she looks a bit mannish.

I'm currently partial to a bit of Katherine Jenkins, until I notice
    someone else.

I *really* need to make some space in the garage, and tell the mrs
before she reads it on here first. Again.

Oops. You need something with an EPG. I just tell TiVo to record a show
and it does, no matter when it's on.
I thought it was a lovely ending.
For me, it was the hardest hitting piece of (fictional) TV I've seen.
Lots of tears in my house.
As stated elsewhere, we can but hope for something from More4.

  18. Oh sure - I had watched the tape earlier and had forgotten to set it to
"dormant" mode. Still I re-recorded it last night.
    Indeed - blubtastic ;-)
    Interesting - I don't think I had that strong a reaction. I sort of
accept that people die in these shows all the time.

Hello! Sorry if it was a bit incoherent - I was kicking off a
    migraine.
Pretending they're still cutting edge. Where's the rest of The West
Wing? Oh, that's right, they only showed it on More Four.
Indeed. I might email the duty officer and see if thre's a light on
    somewhere..

I found it harder when Bobby "visited" a stressed out Sipowic, when
he's having issues over Clark's behaviour and they're barely talking.
Which is odd, because it's a gimmick that irritates the heck out of me
but somehow seemed ok this time.
