Well I figure that in the long term, Greg and Trevor did more damage to
Australia than they did to New Zealand. They only 'robbed' NZ of an
outside chance of a draw. They sullied the reputation of their home
nation. We tend to frown upon unseemly behaviour (as you may have noticed).

And it is being passed on to the next generation(s). Last time I was there a
ten year old lad reminded me of it. Firmly.

    Cheers

Just thought I would have a little lurk at the old newsgroup and spotted
    this.

Anyway Dave, not sure what this thread is about but let me buy you a coffee
    when you are in Christchurch!

That's very honest of you and probably quite correct but we mustn't
dwell on the past just use it to learn by. A game of cricket between
your national side and ours remains to cricket fans as the highlight
of any season but is probably considered by most others (apart from
cricket fans) as just another game, so why let it come between us?

It's a common trait amongst NZ males to have each other on about past
indiscretions, as I'm sure it is in Aus as well. I heard an expression
recently about an old man being punished for a young man's mistakes.
Greg Chapple (sp) will undoubtedly know all about that. His reputation
amongst younger cricketers suffers as a result of them wanting to
distance themselves from his actions of that day.

Good summation Marty. James has become an embarrassment in recent
years, but is our father's youngest and dear to his heart. My own
opinion does in fact concur with your above prediction.
