I'd love a Euro Tour. Might skip NZ for the time (cash strapped) being
though. Need a more tourey'ish bike for that anwyay, as much fun as it
would be to cover 10,000k's on a 250 2stroke, it aint going to happen! :)

    Cheers,
    Derek

It also means you'll circumnavigate the country about 5 times :)

Some emails have already gone around in regards to this trip.
To make it short and sweet:
Shipping our own bikes with Dave Milligan to Christchurch. They'll be ready
to ride-away on the 22 Feb 2005 for a 4 weeks riding holiday of both
Islands. Dropping off bikes on the 24 March 2005 again in Christchurch.
We'll miss the bikes about 10 days either end, for shipping.
    Total cost estimated incl. shipping/insurance/flights/accom/petrol/
food/entrance fees/ all legals/ etc etc. to ride AUS bikes in NZ will be
about $5000 (for 4 weeks of course).
Expect to cover between 6000-10.000km which means that all bikes have to
have fresh rubber/servicing yaddayadda, adding to the cost.

Details aren't set yet, but whoever's been along to one of the 6_peaks, Beef
'n Reef or BananaRama rides, knows how things work.

This thing's serious, Goodie and I WILL go, the max number will be 10.
Firm commitment is neccessary, $600 deposit until the 12.Feb. sharp (that's
a good week from now), further $1500 by late Oct this year (to pay for the
rest of the shipping/shipping insurance and flights).
Please no time-wasting, it's either in or out.
I'm aware of all the implications and whoever doesn't want or can't to
commit will have to miss out.

The BananaRama was the Best so far, NZ should beat it hands-down....Europe
    next?
2007 for 6 weeks of the European Alps and Mediterranean ??

    NZ first :)

    cheers

What year are the big Isle of Man TT celebrations? 2007 innit? Could make that part of the Europe
    tour. ;-)

Good thought Dale. Problem in 2007 will be an incredible shortage of
    accommodation at the TT.

My 2007 TT tour is half full now and I am desperately seeking more
    accommodation. So far without success.

I currently have bedspace for 24 people and have 13 booked for 2007.

The TT normally attracts between 55,000 and 60,000 people. For 2007
the Manx Tourism dept is planning on 100,000. The place will be
impossible for all sorts of reasons. Restaurant & food stall queues.
Accommodation will be the biggest problem.

Part of the problem lies in the fact that the Douglas Prom was full of
old hotels which were used only twice a year - for the TT and the Manx
GP (Aug/Sept) but now their owners are turning them into timeshare
apartments and as a result they are not available for the TT each
year. This has already caused a huge shortage of accommodation without
the crowds who will invade the Island in 2007.

Accommodation providers are imposing a 14 night minimum for 2007. At
    present most are saying 10 nights minimum for 2004, 2005 & 2006.

My 2004 tour is full and 2005 is 60% full and I have 8 bookings (out
    of 24) for 2006.

Taking a tent and camping will be the option most will choose, but if
you've been to P.I. camping when the weather turns to shit at the
World Supers then you must know that's what it does most years at the
TT. Pommie Summers are just like our Winters. Bewdy!

Maybe if a group did get together from aus.moto I could arrange a
bigish hire marque at one of the camp sites to house a group. Share
the cost and just take sleeping bags. This would be the cheapest
    option.

    Kind regards
    Dave Milligan

Was rather planning on an East-to-West crossing of the Alps...
France (Rhone-Valley), Grenoble, through the Mediterranean Alps to the
Coast, back north again to the Swiss boirder about Geneva, Swiss Alps into
Italy, Northern Italy, Guzzi-factory, Lake Como, trundling East into the
Dolomite Mts., across to Austria, looping south through Slowenia towards
Vienna, then back again via the northern route, nipping through the Black
Forest and back into France, Alsace area for a wine-harvest-tour, and back
    to the Channel.
Possibly throwing in a visit at Ducati, Aprilia and Ferrari.
    About 12-15.000km all up
    cheers
