Odd fastners

Come to take the screen off the Aprilia to fit a larger one to stop my head
getting blown off. The fastners that hold it on are like a pin type thing
with a crown type thing underneath that presses over. How do you get them
off without damaging the pins, fairing or screen?

Christ, the pop off funny. I reckon they are one use only. Get them all off
to find the twat has sent me the wrong screen. Great.

Are you sure they don't have a centre pin that you push out first?
One of my bikes had these: the central pin expands the outer bit into
    the hole.

And normally has a second stop to release the lot if you push the
centre of the pin in further.

I'm trying to remember what the bloody things are called. Not pop
rivets. Reusable push rivets? Push-button rivets?

First time I came across one it confused the shit out of me. I tried all
manner of things to dislodge it before I realised I could just poke the
bit in the middle with a philips head.

The ZZR manual calls them quick rivets. I did once manage to find a
better name, but can't remember what it was. My googling at the time
threw up the method of removal - as you say, push the pin even further
    in.

It's not that type, they are like a plastic stud with some kind of crimp
    effort on the other side.

I popped em off easy with a screwdriver. They look to be a one use
thingy. Well, they are now anyway :)

Very odd, anyway I went to ducati Leeds & got some ducati type kits that
    will fit 100%

I'll bring the bag to France if you want Ant? :)

  11. Just saw the pic.
One use only, supposedly, but if you're lucky you can re-use them. The
plastic rivet gets chewed up a bit and the serrated ring gets strained.
    Push-on star grips or something.

I just nipped into the local Ducati dealer, they do a very cheap set of
screws, washers & rubnuts for a stunningly cheap £4.50 a go :) I only need
    8. But,they do fit utterly well. Next time, I'll sell my arse.
