Had a weird run in with an unmarked highway patrol on the Old Rd this arvo.

Stopped for a cuppa and a bacon and egg roll at Mt White cafe on the way
back from getting the ventura rack fitted at Central Coast, as you do.
Ran into Boky and had a brief chat. All good.

When I headed off, going south, I gave it the berries to get rolling
quickly (blind corner 50m away so don't want to get mown down by someone
coming 'round the corner quickly.) went about 250m around the corner and
closed the throttle, looked to see the speed, waited a second for it
to get down to the exact speed limit and then leant on the tank with one
arm to toddle down the straight. Glanced in mirrors and there's a white
crummydore a foot off my wheel so I pulled across and waved him round (I
never go fast on the straight bit, only ever through the actual windies)
assumed he was a hoon I was holding up. Instead of going round he
flashed reds and blues, so I pulled over.

Asked what was up, he ranted and waffled a bit and tried to get me to
admit I'd gone over the speed limit when I left the cafe - I stuck with
"I've no idea, I was doing almost exactly the speed limit when I looked"
(which was true). After going round in circles a while he got my licence
and went and checked it. Came back, gave licence back and told me I was
going to get a 15km/hr over ticket in the mail. Gave me a brief lecture
about how he's sick of picking up dead bodies off the road (which going
by the pimples I doubt he'd been out of the academy for more the 5 mins
so I'm skeptical) and buggered off.

Got me stuffed. I'm assuming he couldn't justify his impression I was
going fast with a radar reading, so after failing to get me to admit I
was speeding he's told me there's a ticket in the mail in the hopes of
scaring me ? I mean if he was going to give me a ticket, why on earth
wouldn't he give me one on the spot ? Is it even legally valid to mail
    you a ticket X days later ?

Well if he did I'm stuffed if I can find it - can you google it up ?
Really ? Shit, I thought he was bluffing, otherwise I'd have demanded to
see the radar - there's no way in hell he had a reading on me, the way
he was carrying on he had no idea what speed I was doing, if he did know
he would have said so and not wasted 5 mins fishing for me to tell him

That might well be one of the reasons to send it in the mail later....

Its been bought up before m but those guns do not have a time and date stamp
on the reading anyway , he could have been sitting back pointing it at
pigeons for all the reading tells us .

I know they have to fill in reports on booked speeds but honestly how many
people are booked at the same speeds by the same cops on the same day

A cop told me that he didn't carry a ticket book, only HWP do. Even though
he said he'd post one out, I never got a ticket so I figured he let me off
    after all.
As for contesting it, good luck. The cop can say whatever he likes in court
and you have to prove otherwise. Go justice...

I'm just wondering wether or not they have cameras in their HP cars.?? Do
they take a photo/video of the bikes/cars that get done?

ISTR several similar discussions. They don't have a time/date stamp,
but they do clear the display after a short period of time, apparently
to prevent multiple uses of a particularly good number.

Mad-Biker will know. Where is he? Sheesh, there's never a cop around
    when you need one :)

Methinks a time/date stamp would be far more betterer. Too difficult
for dodgy cops to prove they're not dodgy though, so it would never
    fly.

    Er, lots? :)

The number of times you haven't been caught doing nothing?
Every ticket is an act of corruption.

In Queesnland they don't need radar if they can get what's called a
follow speed on you. As long as the speedo in the police car has been
tested and certified (every 3 months I beleive) and they can follow you
at a set distance (say < 50 meters) for a reasonable period, you're stuffed.

Mind you if the vehicle issn't certified, or they weren't at set
distance (didn't sound like you noticed this) and they only follow you
for a short distance I'd be writing a letter if the ticket does arrive.

When you 'give it the berries' who is the victim?
Traffic Infringements are the only branch of law I know of where you are
punished for not actually doing anything wrong. You are punished purely for
being in the same vague statistical group as some other person who did
something wrong once upon a time.

In my experience, writing the letter will demonstrate a failure to
exhibit an appropriate "attatude" and you'll get "lots fo tickets"
as a direct and specific result of writing the letter.

Wait for the ticket and/or the 90 days, *then* **** back!

I dunno about JL, but paying the fine without bitching and whining
about it for at least a couple of months first is against my
    religion!

Yeah he told me I was on candid camera (which makes me happy 'cos it'll
show the absence of a radar reading if I take it to court)

Your reading comprehension is a bit ordinary Nev (GYAFN).

I got up to the speed limit quickly, there's nothing illegal about that.
I didn't loft the front wheel or spin the rear. Perfectly legal.

So the bit where I was speeding was where Nev ?

He didn't have a radar reading of me speeding, otherwise he wouldn't
have been fishing for me to tell him I was
