He is OK but about 20 riders have various broken bones twisted ankles, etc.
About 3 bikes were total write offs and many had serious damage. The Off
Centre Rally, not for the novice.

  8. Yeah, I'm not sure thats the sort of support the RFDS is looking for
John. I think the most humorous I'd heard was 45 bikes waiting at
Cape Crawford for the next fuel tanker to arrive. Milparink 2010.

Really? I wasn't all that experienced when I went to Urandangi in
    2002.

I suspect that the main reason for all those broken bones is that most
of the "adventure riders" try to do that "ride through the bulldust
holes at 120km/h" thing that you mentioned earlier.

Yes Al, and the staff at Cape Crawford are not the most hospitable people,
from memory I was paying about $2.10 a litre for fuel and I was lucky to get
a full tank as I used 32 litres for the 385 kilometres south to Barkley
Homestead due to severe headwinds. $90 a night for a donga and beer at $6.00
    a can.

Clearly Bulldust should be taken at 140 kph.

  12. That is not seriously a bike crash, surely? 40 litres of fuel to
reduce something to that? Not even G W Frost deserves that.

It is a bike crash, as I understad it he came unstuck in deep sand and hit a
tree, the bike burst into flames whist he was still aboard, he jumped clear
and could do nothing but watch as the bike and all his possessions burned
(including his wallet and all his cards/cash). It was a KTM 950 Adventure.
