I used to spend some evenings correcting basic spelling and grammatical
mistakes made by my middle daughter's form teacher, the next day I'd be
asked to refrain from doing it by his head teacher. I told her that as
long as the form teacher made spelling mistakes I'd correct them and
shame him into trying harder. It soon became apparent that he wasn't
capable of doing better, nor were many of the other teachers, so
private schools were the only other option.

I wouldn't be surprised, given the lack of discipline in schools
nowadays. Lead by example is what I was taught; To me that applies 24
hours a day.
