They are still going, which would suggest that they know what they are
doing. I thought they did a good job on my old GSX550ES forks.

  4. They're creased, and slightly bent too. I'm thinking there was a front end
collision with something hard and heavy. Am I not being rufty tufty enough
    and they're actually ok?

OIC. erm, I believe you could get them straightened/rechromed but I
haven't had that done that myself. I'd give one of the re-chromers a call.

  6. No trouble. Easily rechromed. But before you do, just enquire of the
ShiteOldYamahaSparesSpecialists of the cost of a new set - for a
relatively unpopular bike like the XJ550, new stanchions may be a lot
    less than you expect.

The cost of straightening and rechroming would probably be more than a
new set of replacements from ABE in Greenwich.

  8. Wot I said, more or less.

I had a bod email me about some 400 Four forks recently. I told him he
was probably better off buying a new set of stanchions from Dave Silver.
He checked the price, and got back to me, ecstatic, and fuill of thanks.

I've still got the bloody forks. Only slightly pitted....

The creasing would worry me enough to replace them. Bends can be
straightened, but a crease probably means seriously weakened metal.

  10. I'd agree with that.

  11. Creased forks are pretty much impossible to 'fix' anyway.
