    It's pretty daft now in some areas. AIUI they're a minor if under 16
    or 18 if still in education. That led to my youngest in the second
    year of university needing a CRB check to work in the college bar
    because of the interaction with minors. This was based on the scottish
    system completing A levels earlier so there could potentially be
    access to 17 year old minors. Her birthday is the end of August, so
    she'd have been 18 and a few weeks at the time.
    Pretty much anyone in a position of responsibility is in trouble if
    they form a relationship with a person they have care over.

    I work for an IT consultancy and my work involves being away from home
    a lot. So making a regularly weekly commitment to something is
    difficult at the moment.

    Mmm the plod bit.
    What I was thinking was in a TV discusion after the two Soham school
    girl bodies were found but they hadn't got the school caretaker yet, a
    criminal analyst on the program pointed out that statistically the
    highest numbers of pedophiles would be found in the Catholic
    Priesthood[1], the children's social services[2] and the police force.
    ie. Anyone who had access to children 'by right of their job'.[3] That
    is where they should be looking.

    The Police officer in charge(?) of the investigation was there and went
    ape shit that the guy had included the police. This is the same police
    officer who a couple(?) of year later was found to be running a kiddy
    porno photo club.



    [1] Including a Rat somebody who issued a proclamation that you would be
    excommunicated if you told on a priest.
    [2] 15 (?) years ago there was a big problem with them.
    [3] He sort of got it right.
