Here it says there's still a time limit for the NIP even when it's not just
for speeding but for careless driving.

    http://www.motordefencesolicitors.co.uk/knowledge-Guides/n-i-p.htm

Unless I'm reading it wrong it's still required to be sent within 14 days of
the offence. Now my recent NIP was months after the alleged offence, the
accident was 26th July and the NIP is postmarked 18th November.

Does this invalidate NWP's case ?

  2. From the same page:

    Exceptions

Notice of intended prosecution is not required where
a full or provisional fixed penalty notice has been given or fixed; or
**if you were knowingly involved in an accident at the time**

I would suggest that you don't get your hopes up. Sorry.

    Damn ... selective blindness :)

On a good note the brief called Xmas eve to tell me not to be at court for
the first hearing as it's just a formality?

Plod attended the scene, didn't they? You were cautioned before they spoke
to you, I guess? You admitted that you were riding the bike? That's them
    covered.

The time limit is only for those offences where you were spotted by a
camera etc but not stopped by plod. The time limit allows the registered
keeper of the vehicle to legitimately say, "it was ages ago, how the ****
do you expect me to remember who was driving the vehicle."

I'm fairly sure II wasn't cautioned at the scene, I know I wasn't
breathalysed, which surprised me as I'd figured everyone in a bump got a
breath test. All I can recall from my interaction with plod at the scene was
the rider of the stealth bike telling me off for riding the ZX home.

Blimey. N Wales plod in procedural inefficiency shocker.

You want to hope/arrange that he has a stroke and cannot give evidence in
    court that identifies you, then.

Keep sending high cholesterol doughnuts to his house.

Did they verbally caution you at the time that they may prosecute? If
they did, then that's the NIP.

Nope, all I can recall him saying was moaning about me riding the bike home
    from the scene.

Cheers Nige, brief has now told me that I don't need to attend on Monday as
it's just a formality to arrange a day in the future for the main event :)

Well that's easy then, deny all knowledge of the accident!

  13. Don't worry. If you forget being cautioned, I'm sure he'll 'remember'.
You'll find that it appeared magically in his notebook, after the event.

Andy was telling me the NI licence worked well in this occasion? God bless
the Shinners if they are keeping licence harmonisation at bay.

Have you seen this shopfront on Upper Newtonards Road? slightly amusing
    murals.

yes - I got a large fine, but they were unable to put any points on my
    NI (EU) license.
    that's brilliant.
