I can detect a huge swing to the repopulation of the Scottish Highlands
here. Sheep drove them out, and now sheep are driving them back in.
    Different sheep obviously.

And how long do you think it would take to wire up the Highlands with
    cameras?

This is true, to a certain extent at least, as the policy of charging
has only been allowed when there's an alternative route using N roads,
but it certainly doesn't guarantee low traffic or perfect road
surfaces. And those are just as frequently found on non-charging
autoroute, of which there is a large amount.
Bollocks. There is not a single motorway in the UK where you can't,
just as in France, find an alternative route using A roads. And don't
forget that there's also a road tax equivalent here. Can't recall
exact details, as my vehicles are Swiss-plated[1][2] but I think it's
around the same amount. SWK will doubtless be along shortly.
Bwaahaahaahaa! France, the land of the free. If you seriously believe
it's that much better you're sadly disillusioned. There are, I'd be
the first to admit, lots of good things about living here, but trying
to imply that it's down to a hands-off governmental style is
    seriously, seriously funny.

[1] As opposed to the taps.
[2] Where they also have an annual road tax, dependant on the size of
the vehicle, but of the order of 100-150 gbp for a car and somewhat
    less for a bike.

That's a bit crap considering we're thinking of upping sticks and
    moving out to Oz.

"A beautiful child close to me, six and the apple of her father's eye,
believes that Thomas the Tank Engine really exists. She believes in
Father Christmas, and when she grows up her ambition is to be a tooth
fairy. She and her school-friends believe the solemn word of respected
adults that tooth fairies and Father Christmas really exist. This
little girl is of an age to believe whatever you tell her. If you tell
her about witches changing princes into frogs she will believe you. If
you tell her that bad children roast forever in hell she will have
nightmares. I have just discovered that without her father's consent
this sweet, trusting, gullible six-year-old is being sent, for weekly
instruction, to a Roman Catholic nun. What chance has she?"

  10. You are not..
Indeed. People who say "there oughta be a law against xxx" have no
right to complain when someone makes a law that abrogates one of
    *their* 'freedoms'[1].

Nothing beefs up a political statement like an Iron Maiden lyric, and
anyone who says otherwise is a fool or a communist.

From a mountain top an AK isn't going to be much use, close combat

I'm on CCTV camera all day long, unless I go to the bog, and I'm not
even sure about then. You probably meant council/cop/private security
    firm cameras though, didn't you?

I have this vision of DNC pegged out on the ground outside my mud hut.
I'm riding away on my RD400. Coiled up behind me is 52m of cord. One end
is tied to the subframe of the RD. The other end is tied to his Prince
    Albert.

I think certain states of the USA, North West Scotland and parts of
    Italy are probably best.
    Thank **** for Italy.
