It probably would have been mine too before. Bear in mind I could do
all those things here, I just don't want to anymore. The biking thing
is a shame but there are compensations. I miss riding into Soho to
work, or down the A30 to Somerset or France, but those experiences
aren't available here, not in Sydney. It's too hot, the traffic's much
worse and worst of all the roads are narrower making filtering if not
an impossibility then the other-side-of-fun dangerous, and of course
    the rozzers are utter wankers.

It's like trying to get a porridge-wog to acknowledge the more Scots
fought against BPC at Culloden, than for him.

  11. BPC was nothing more than an opportunistic, autocratic, talentless,
greedy useless **** anyway. In charge of a bunch of teuchters who
thought the sun shone out of the arse of anyone who could promise them a
future away from the wife and sheep.

Change of life really, better weather hopefully, probably stay in the
same career but with sunshine. As for location, it would probably
depend on which area gives the best benefits to encourage us to move.
Canberra always seems to be pushing for people, but family are in
Sydney and in Moree so we could end up in those areas.
I'm surprised about the bike TBH, isn't Oz a good place to ride then?

"A beautiful child close to me, six and the apple of her father's eye,
believes that Thomas the Tank Engine really exists. She believes in
Father Christmas, and when she grows up her ambition is to be a tooth
fairy. She and her school-friends believe the solemn word of respected
adults that tooth fairies and Father Christmas really exist. This
little girl is of an age to believe whatever you tell her. If you tell
her about witches changing princes into frogs she will believe you. If
you tell her that bad children roast forever in hell she will have
nightmares. I have just discovered that without her father's consent
this sweet, trusting, gullible six-year-old is being sent, for weekly
instruction, to a Roman Catholic nun. What chance has she?"

au contraire - Merkin English is actually closer to English English at
the time the word would have been coined than English English is now.

I'll break it down for you by major city and from mine and/or other
    people's impressions:

Adelaide: Full of old people and serial killers, cold winters, nice
    city.

Canberra: boring as shit, weather not that great, really boring.
    Boring.

Melbourne: Cultural capital. Nice city, nice social atmosphere. Summers
hotter than uk, winters quite mild.

Sydney: considered soulless compared to Melbourne. Beaches all over the
place. Hot summers, mild winters (about 16 deg).

Brisbane: Pretty hideous and pointless. Industrial. Quite boring, no
    beaches but nice islands offshore.

Darwin: tiny population, scorchio all the time, can't go in the sea
during spring summer due to instant box jellyfish death, pointless city
unless you're an invading Jap and/or a car racing enthusiast.

Perth: Miles away. Might not exist.
Champ pretty much nailed it. Also the roads in Sydney are slightly
narrower than the UK making filtering - which is illegal here- more
dangerous if not sometimes impossible especially as the drivers can be
openly hostile to bikes making progress.
