Oh. My. God.

  1. The Akrapovics I put on my XT this afternoon sound gorgeous.

Damn, if I could recreate the sound in a mp3, I would but by jingo, it
pops, bangs and it doesn't spit flames exactly, more like lightning
    flashes.

I'm going to have a lot of fun on that bike.

Oh, btw, the fucking front comes up on the throttle now.

    All the time.

see if you can catch the flames with the camera shutter
man of your ability should be able to do that :)

I'm off to the West Country for a week after I get in from work but if
winter hasn't started by the time I get back, I'll be happy to.
    I missed that ;-)

    Excellent. You have my number.
I used to have an R30. I love supermotos.

Indeed I do. I'll give you a ring on my return :)
I think I'm starting to love it as well.

My wheelies aren't upto standard really and only lift a few inches on
pull-away and gear changes but I think this'll be the bike to learn them
    on.

I find them much easier to control. The Blade comes up so fast it
scares me but supermotos seem to be smooth. I think the big bouncy
    front forks help too.

  11. If he rides it to Cornwall, I'll have a go with the 350d.

I suspect he'll take the Mundaneo though.

It certainly feels like it would come up nicely with just a little tug
of the bars but like you I've been used to much faster and higher
revving stuff and I'm a little bit scared if I'm honest about flipping
    it over.

A lot does seem to hinge on how far up or down the seat one sits.

I've anxed and toiled over it and it will have to be the Ford, I'm
    afraid.

I'll save the long and boring reasons/excuses why but it boils down to
the amount of stuff I need to bring.

If I could guarantee nice warm and dry weather in the day and night my
decision would be a bit easier but then I've still got to bring a gas
cooker and all the assorted shite that goes with it.

Then there's clothes, shaving gear etc, etc...

I think you'd really have to be going some to flip a moto but out of
that or a sports bike I know which one I'd rather have land on me.
I had no problems at Mallory. Gave the throttle a hard twist and up it
    came.

I'd need a second pair of hands to operate the throttle and it'd be much
easier to capture in video mode - My photographic skillz are legendary.

It's not the landing on me bit, it's the partial destroying of a brand
    new bike that worries me.
I've found the front lifts when pulling away and accelerating in first
but wouldn't need much provocation when changing up into 2nd which would
    probably be a safer bet.

At least there's no real power-band as such to deal with.

  17. I've decided that the weather will be not quite as glorious as last
year but bearable, so we'll leave in a bit.

I have to wait until the teenager gets his lazy arse out of bed and
packs some clothes. I'll probably see you all Monday at this rate.

BTW. If you haven't read that book, you are in *so* much trouble.
Bring it down and you can sit in the corner until you're finished.

Well, I *was* leaving today but after trying to fit a small NP hanger to
my bike and then finding out I couldn't fit the exhausts and then having
to put the whole lot back together again, I'm now about 4 hours behind
schedule. Add to that the fact I've got to head 80 miles in the wrong
direction to drop my furry ratty friends off at my Dad's house for the
week and it looks distinctly ominous whether I'll be there today.

It is a possibility but depending on how I feel I might just leave early
tomorrow at about five and see you all mid-morning.
I'm preparing to be spanked ;-)
S'funny, that. I started to read (a page) it last year and thought it'd
be good to read it at home.

There's too many distractions here and not one of them involving a woman
so <nods> I think I will bring it to Cornwall.
