I took the FJ in for a pair of tyres today. While I was there I had a
little sniff around the showroom, and got chatting to the mechanic. If
only I'd seen that a year ago! Bummer bugger and fuckit.

They have a brand new Bandit 1200 at £4995. Unfortunately I'm not in a
position to take that up right now.

But in case anyone else is...... North East Motorcycles, Neville's
    Cross, Durham.

err, that's Suzuki list price for a Bandit 1200.
even if you mean a Bandit 1200S (list price 5,299) it's hardly worth
    the efford....

Is it, I know I haven't looked at new bike prices for a while, but
fucking hell, that seems like damned good VFM to me just the same. I
    gather it's a £2k drop in a year.
    No indeed.

Really? That should have an interesting knock on effect on pre-loved
    prices then.

    B12s were never 6999 - I think I paid something like 5899 back in '98.

I'm getting the Bridgestones again. You know what, I don't know how much
yet. I get the bike tomorrow, but he's never ripped me off on prices,
and does a good job too, so I stick with him. TBH, for the sake of good
service I can't be arsed to shop around to save just a few quid.
    LOL, but it's shiny! ;-)

Actually, I really wanted the GSX1400.

That's definitely more than I'm paying. IIRC last time he charged me
    about £160 for the pair.

You can't be too far away from 'The Doc' can you?

BTW, do you have any contact with the FJ OC? I haven't had new
membership through, and I've emailed them a few times now to change my
address, and ask them about my subscription. No replies though. I
*thought* I'd set up a continuing payment, but I'm guessing not.

Fecking hell, I'm just sticking the third rear BT45 on in 12000 miles,
and this is the second front.

I've only had BT45s on this one though.
Nearer than me though, IIRC he's West of you.
I wanted too, as they do some very cheap bits. However, Paul in the
local bike shop is very reasonable, and it's almost not worth me doing
    my own servicing.

Aye, can't grumble about the handling.

I just thought about that. I can get to St Albans in just over 3.5
    hours.
Depends I guess, on how much difference it makes. Probably nearer to 250
    miles for me.

LOL. I can see what it's like to get older now ;-)

In answer to your other question on price, about the same as you.
Although I got him to do an oil & filter change, and give the bike a
once over too. He also struggled to get the rear wheel bolt out. £272 in
    all.

I pay £74 for a 120/90H-18 BT45 fitted to a loose wheel from the local
motorcycle workshop (KC Motorcycles, Westbourne Place, Hove).
