Oh well

  1. Won a scooter on Fleabay. Owner lives all of a mile away. Only thing
wrong with it, barring the usual scratches, said the description, was a
    broken speedo cable.

Wrong. Speedo itself was utterly buggered. Broken panels. And some
unsung genius (his neighbour, apparently) had sprayed Back to Black on
the tyres. So five yards was as far as you'd have got before lobbing it.

Nice lad, and woebgone when I told him a whole new speedo console was
going to cost him about £80. But 'not as described', so back to the
drawing board and my cash stayed in my pocket.

Why a scooter, incidentally? Well, with the price of fuel as it is, the
Chateau needs a small economical vehicle that we can all swipe for short
journey use, getting to the shops, getting to school, whatever. My SL125
is definitely easy on fuel (115mpg!) but The Doctor wants something with
a leccy start and The Daughter is only 16 anyway.

Anyone got a decent scooter for grabs, around the £500 mark? I'm getting
    tired of looking at shite.

This one I hope doesn't look like the council estate bike?

BTW, seen the item on the BBC about the emperor Augustus? I ask as you
are a fan of "I Clavdivs".

  7. Nah. It's a nice - very nice indeed - SH50. Superb condition, £400.
It'll be the Chateau's family hack.
    Oh. Rather superb.

  8. Just too impractical. And you really need a garage to keep something
    like that in.

You mean to say that it's going to write articles. Well it is said that
anyone can "do" journalism. I suppose two hacks in the Chateau is enough
    for one family.
I may have to pay a visit.
