OH YESSSSSSS! Paging the Nurburgringisti!

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Wicked Uncle Nigel, Feb 16, 2006.

  1. Provisional dates[1] suggest that the 'ring will be open to the public
on the Saturday of the Frog TOGTour.

    <gulp, fart>

Looks like we're on then, boys and girls.

Coo - now that I would be potenially interested in at least watching -
though obviously I would take approximately 3 weeks to complete a lap
    if I took part.

Thing is though, what are the chances of any of you lot [1] being a)
awake and b) sober on the Saturday morning?

[1] as I don't drink enough to get drunk, I'm not including myself in
    this.

Don't be fucking daft. You're doing a lap, I've decided. You can do it
on your bike, or you're going bitch with me. Your call.
What on Earth have either of those things got to do with it?

You'll still be snoring when you're supposed to be doing your lap -
    that's what.

Do we have to book in advance?

What are the rules - I'd be more worried about someone punting me off
than me actually doing anything excessively rash?

Having learnt from the Saturday morning last year, I have every
    intention
of taking it easy on the Friday night this time.

Well, easier, anyway. Which shouldn't be hard...

Nope. It's a public toll-road. You turn up, pay your money and have at
    it.
It's a public road. The guidelines I've read say keep a weather eye on
your mirrors, and indicate and move *right* when a faster vehicle comes
    up behind you.

There's a whole bunch of scary stuff about what to do if you come across
an accident (basically don't stop unless you think it's really
necessary, don't stop on the road, send people waaaaaaaaaaay back up the
road to warn oncoming vehicles). I'll dig out the URL with the briefing
    stuff nearer the time.

On that note, what are you and and Dodger intending to treat the

If I can't maintain my line walking across the carpark, the ring is
    right out!

I dunno. Last year I don't think I was technically sober til we were
sat by the river eating pancakes with dame blanche.

I'm ignoring the sobering effect of that uphill right-hander. *shudder*

Wun, what weekend do you have planned ?

If it coincides with one of mine, I know a cracking little place in

Those of you with an Xbox, might want to get FORZA as this has the ring
in all its glory, cars only mind, but you don't need to unlock the tracks or
    cars
to have a go at the ring.

Interesting to see the brow of a hill after a fast straight fall away to a
    really tight left hander
might just save some of you?
p.s. beat clarksons 10 mins on 2nd attempt but I was in a Zonda ;-)
