Of course the trouble with an intermittent starting fault is when you
can't start it so you can go and get said intermittent starting fault
    looked at.

I'm going to have another coffee and warm up a bit then go and have
another go. If all else fails I'll ring Aunty Carol.

Any point spraying easy start at it?

    It'a an old bike, innit?

Is there no turning of the starter at all? If so my bet is that the
earthing strap from the negative feed to the frame will be loose or
    corroded.

Only really works well with diesels. However, it is very useful in
    diagnosing fuel faults.

Spray easy start and it doesn't fire then it's likely to be ignition, if
it does then it's probably fuel.

And here I was up and awake bright and early, waiting with the kettle
    all primed for your arrival.

    Get here when you can.

not having read the presumably existing previous thread to this, I was
somewhat confused by the message body, as the subject line had led me
to believe this was going to be about the Basques.

I'd rather not imaging Lozzo in a basque.

I was obviously using the wrong approach, threats didn't work, so I
walked out to the garage - 'come on gorgeous, it's sunny and we are
going out to play' - started straight away.

I'll just go and put petrol in and I'll see you in a sensible sitting
    at 70 mph time.

Not a lot if it's an electrical fault. Maybe blathering inside any (and all)
connectors around the bike with ACF 50 would be a start though.
