Ah, we have a slight impasse. Whilst you may be of the opinion that
the banjo is a fine musical instrument, I have yet to have the same
emotional reaction to any music played on a banjo. Whereas, for
example, Entrance of the Queen of Sheba played on a church organ
always sends shivers up and down my spine.
Or, in my case, not so thin ice, however the risk is still the same.

It is the only thing I have ever got anything resembling a tune out of
and as to emotional reaction you will be ecstatic when I stop playing.

I thought they were 75-80ish? Certainly the SV I had was mid-60s and
I know the Bindit has more than that.

The B12 only makes 99bhp as standard.

My bindit is <50,000 miles away from anything resembling manufacturers

Rubbish, FJs always seem way overpriced for what they are, ancient
    design poorly thrown together.
You've been reading UBG again. It's a documented fact they dislike
anything that shows promise or has newfangled gizmos like water-
    cooling.
And no decent sticky ones fit.
Stick a 4-1 on an old ZZR and be done with it.
This is a surprise. But having looked at a few FJs over the years, the
only decent looking ones have pitifully low mileages.
They don't need one like the FJs do. They have a ZZR riders club, not a
club that dispenses repair tips. That says it all really.

I know a few shortarses[1] that ride Hornet 600s. Hardly a big step up from
the Bandit but they do a 900cc version. Cheapest on Autotrader is £3500 so
outside your budget maybe. 109 bhp allegedly.

Would being reduced to tears of laughter count as an emotional
    reaction?

However, I wouldn't be surprised if you are accustomed to that sort of
reaction; with or without stringed instruments.

Speaking as someone who has a particularly short arse. My advice is to get a
bike you like and don't worry about if you can get your feet down or not.

I would like it to be but sadly it isn't. I don't like spending many
thousands of pounds on bikes, mainly because somebody like me might have
ridden it before. I am happy spending less a grand and throwing it away
when it breaks. This time I am prepared to spend more but old habits
    die hard.

Can it pull from 15mph in top?

They have wider hips and can take a taller bike than bloke of similar
inside leg measurement. That's my theory and I am sticking to it.

You're talking about the fucking dark ages here. The ZZR was introduced
in 1990, about 6 years after the FJ1100. In those 6 years motorcycle
development moved forwards in leaps and bounds. Kawasaki constantly
updated the ZZR, Yamaha bored the 1100 out to 1200 and left just about
everything else alone. By the time the ZZR came out the FJ wasn't
winning races, not by a long chalk. The GPZ900R had taken over that
    role, with 200cc less.

Yebbut you are particularly shortarsed, a monkey bike is big for you. I
am nearly but not quite normal, sometimes satisfaction is achievable.

Besides, you have been out with the likes of ukrm for a ride, you know
exactly how it is: forever stopping at the side of the road waiting for
them to catch up. You sometimes need to be able to plant a toe firmly
for a minute or two and be comfortable with it.

I disagree. Not about the bike-u-like bit, I agree with that.
