At least Smee's Bimmer needs a bit of a shove to make it lie down. ;-)

And then it finds a nice soft Ducati to lie on.

(Thought of you last week, Baron. Put a towbar on the Audi.)

  2. Then take that tow bar right off again mate !!!!!

Dont tow anything heavyish for more than 500km. I define heavyish as
over 300kg combined weight - which is basically nearly an empty trailer.

Audi auto transmissions are made out of clutches, they are not your
traditional band type transmission. Those clutches are woefully small so
    be careful.

Yep. I'm aware of the problem. It's just so I can take the odd trailer
of waste to the tip. I don't intend using it to tow a caravan or cart a
    bike interstate.

Mine is the relatively[1] gutless 1.8l non-turbo. If it shares a
gearbox with the less impotent turbo models, I'm guessing that my tranny
should survive a little longer due to lower stresses. But I've been
    wrong about cars before[2].

    Moike

    [1] no, absolutely gutless.

[2] Starting with my first "I think I'll get a Vauhall Victor like the
one my old man had" all the way up to "Gee that Citroen DS looks like an
    interesting car"

  8. get the tranny serviced now then - will only cost you 250 at the most
could potentially stave off a problem.

Hmmm it's had every scheduled service on the dot, but exactly what sort
of service can you give a manual box anyway ? It's due for a minor
service shortly, I might ask them to change the gearbox oil as well.
