    Hi,

My oil change is just about due, do I change it in the next month and the
bike will sit in the garage all winter, or do I wait until Spring to change
    it?

Bandit 600 - which is the preferred oil?

  2. Change it now. Else the acidic products of combustion in the oil will
sit there all winter and not do the internals any good.
Dunno. Try looking at the manual.

If you're not going to ride it and let it sit there all winter I'd sling
in Tesco's finest 20/50 now and change again before it gets put back on
    the road, but that's me.

At an educated guess I'd say a semi-synth 10/40 bike specific oil.

    HBoL says:-

    Engine/transmission oil viscosity - SAE 10W/40
Engine/transmission oil type - API grade SE, SF or SG(minimum) motor
    oil.

So that will be the cheap shit then.

Nope that is bollox that is. I was reading the GS500 book.

From the HBoL for the bindit:-

Same except no mention of SE

    Probably still applies though.

Change the oil and ride the bike through the winter.

I've been there and done that, now I've a car, there's no chance I'll be
getting cold and wet through choice.

I spent the first 8 years of my biking without a car and I'd never want to
    go back thanks.

However, I still get out in winter on nice sunny days.
