Only the other day did i read on here about a lump of road debris cracking a
sump etc etc... Now its my turn - Oil filter on my speed 4 was a little
corroded, but only months old, when today during what should have been an
entertaining blat up Cheddar Gorge a chip(?) must've hit it and caused the
contents if the engine (well only the oil acshly) to be deposited on wheel,
    engine, me etc.
So to the point - would those here assembled think triumph should cough
up, and if so is the new rear tyre now a disposible item??
Thanks for thoughts, ideas, or comments

That's be me and my Daytona, then.

'Road debris' in my case was 6" long and 1" across..... So not cracked.
More 'lost a big fucking lump'...

If it's something flung up off the road, then it's just 'one of those
things' and Triumph ain't gonna pay up - it could happen to any make of
    bike.

If you have fully comp insurance they should tho... But the loss of yr
no-claims, plus the excess would probably result in you paying yourself like
    I am.....

Spoke to a mechanic mate today - he reckons if the tyre still has a few thou
left on it then a good, soon, clean will be OK. Also reckons rear pads
should be OK with a good wash as, since they no longer use asbestos they
don't absorb any of the crap and the oil should be removable... Again, only
worth it if they've got a few thou left in 'em as the time spent cleaning
could be better spent putting new bits in if the pads/tyre are well worn...

    Thanks Dave,
My thinking is that triumph may help as i think the problem would not
have been a problem if the filter hadn't corroded. It's actually rusty on
it's 'leading edge', so maybe weaker - anyway i spose i can but try. The
info about the tyre is nice tho, as its barely scrubbed.
