The other guy I was on the bikesafe day with, Al (GSXR 750), had his Husky stolen recently and this prompted him to set-up a website to act as a register for stolen bikes. Al had a flyer he gave to me and Peter (our bikesafe assessor) and in his words "we aim to become the UK's largest register of stolen motorbikes". He's keen to propomte its existence so I said I'd post up a link to it here. Take a look at the site here: http://www.oithatsmybike.co.uk You can e-mail Al via the site with any comments and suggestions. You can find out if it has outstanding finance owing, or if it's been the subject of a serious insurance claim/written off and rebuilt/stolen and recovered. It's a good way to ensure you don't buy a seemingly good but worthless bike.
I know what it's for, TYVM. I just never bothered. Then again, I've only bought one bike privately in the last 20 years, AFAICR. Oh, there was the 400/4, but that had a provenance as long as you could ask for, so I wasn't worried.
