(46 days - and I've been counting), Tittersworth Reservoir is still almost
empty. I wonder what would have happened if it had been a dry summer.

It had crossed my mind too. When I were a lad we could have right
proper storms with nary a warning. Nowadays, more then half an inch of
rain[1] and we get a severe weather warning.

I've seen worse.
