It hasn't gone above freezing for 48 hours here. Most roads are gritted
and fine but the lanes are a bit treacherous.

I can highly recommend being here

Its warm, green, and just errrr... loverly. Might go tubing today, after
    fixing Jean's bike.

She has lost her "mountain road dirt track" virginity in style, after
50kms of no road (the one marked highway 5 is more a mountain path), she
went off the road and bent a few things as she and bike tumbled down the
    slope.

At least she was still smiling.

Oh well. ATM we're planning to travel as planned. As long as the A49
is clear we can inch our way thereafter.

We are going to a wedding in Durham on 20th December and staying a
couple of days. I think we will let the train take the strain. With a
family railcard a return from Wolvo' seems not too bad value.

We should be flying back from Italy on the 19th, so could perhaps meet
    you for a jar/meal.
    Good idea.

That would be good. I think the plan is to go up on Saturday 18th and do
cultural visits on the Sunday, wind down from wedding day on Tuesday and
home on Wednesday. Did the French Run form (posted on Friday) include a
    mobile number - I misremember?
As long as the lad can use his portable DVD player he'll probably be
less bored than in the car and I'll certainly be less frazzled.

Done. Everyone should now have my phone numbers - except whoever's
gmail account is bouncing my emails back as spam.

Same logic as I apply to Herefordshire: more affinity to Somerset than
Worcestershire to which it was saddled for >20 years. Like you, my family
based in the Wye Valley are more likely to travel to Bristol than Brum for
    the big city things.

It's certainly different to your accent. I've never heard Champ refer
    to plastic as plaarstick.

Or not. There seems every likelihood we won't even get out of our
street tomorrow, if all tonight's forecast snow arrives. We shall see.

  18. That's a remarkably straight bat you have there.

Gloucester accent, if that's what they have in the forest?

We just had a phone call from a relative in Newcastle - a foot of snow

If it gets much colder I'm going to have to put the liner back in my
