OK, yes, so I've bought a scooter

If you missed the earlier enquiries about chassis numbers and the
like. I won one on Ebay, supposedly fine except for some scratches and
a broken speedo cable. It was only a mile away from home, and...

...the bodywork was broken, the speedo itself was broken, it didn't
start and some lunkhead had sprayed Back to Black all over the tyres
    so it was physically unrideable.

    "Not as described. Goodbye."

I'd seen another couple, and they were generally utter shite. Browsing
    www.adtrader.co.uk turned up a supposedly immaculate 2001 Honda SH50
in Dartford. The geezer who was selling it seemed to know his onions,
and was obviously not a teenager, so I toddled off to have a look.

I am now the proud owner of an ex-Post Office SH50, and blimey, it's
in lovely nick. Only 11k miles, not a mark on it, and (best of all) a
complete PO service history. Like a service every couple of months.
The PO chops six inches off the back of the dual seat and affixes a
bloody great bracket and tray to carry Postman Pat's mailbag, but I'm
not planning on carrying a pillion on it anyway, so I'll stick a
    topbox on the rack instead.

Starts instantly, runs perfectly, stops well, and 10 months' MoT. Mine
for £375 and he's delivering it for me for another £25. It's going to
    be the Chateau's town hack.

If anyone else is interested, ex-PO 'peds are here:

Interestingly, our new Italienne at work said: "Oh, an SH50! Everybody
rides them in Italy!" Good news.

The Spanish owners of scooters that are ridden in northern Africa ain't that
happy. Those scooters are stolen and sent to Morocco as spare parts. Police
captured some thieving scum recently, luckily.

BTW, here in BCN the most common scooter is SH125 and SH150, as locals seem
to appreciate the 17" wheels ever since its Scoopy predecessor.
