I have an approx. 6 year old FM budget helmet (IIRC it cost around
£90) that I bought for #2 sprog, which he wore about 3 times and then
decided pillion riding with me wasn't for him. It's been bagged/boxed
and out of sunlight since then, and I've just found it during a
    clear-out.

Is it still safe to use, or will someone trot out some "the material
    will have degraded" stuff?

If it is safe, does anyone want it? It's a size 58/"M" in sort of
    multi-coloured swirly stripes.

I use my 6YO+ helmets infrequently, usually as a second or 3rd choice
lid which I can chain to the bike and not worry about.

On the 2 offs i've had my lid has never touched down but my
    shoulders / hips etc have.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

no - but I'm not trying to sell it - just wondering if it'd be OK to
offer free to a good home.

It's newer and in better condition than what I use every day.
    Not me.

  5. I suspect you'll struggle to find anyone who will take it.

If that's the case, check your local SJA or Red Cross and see if they
can make use of it for training purposes.

or offer it for sale in an "alternative lifestyle" medium. Tracking down
the ebay link someone else posted about some bloke who sells *used* biker
gear may give you an idea how to pitch the ad. Whether you choose to
emphasise the demographic of the prior user, which may add value, is
something I'll leave you to ponder.

I give my old lids to the TT marshalls for training with...

Maybe your local St Johns have a similar requirment., I would wear
someone elses old lid for a new clock personally.

I have an MX lid and goggles I inherited with the CCM.

It's too big for me (I take a M/57-58, so this looks like a L/59-60-
    ish), but it looks ok.

Similarly free to anyone who can make use of such a thing.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

Second, equally big-headed dibs on the basis that it will go black ...
or olive green for Ural use?

  13. I only *need* it for one event, so if you could make more frequent use
of it afterwards, I'll happily pass it on in the spirit of the game.

Ok, it's in the OTC. I'll need it to get my bike back up to
Cambridgeshire (as I forgot my lid, doh!) , but then it's spare.

I'll UR it to chez Bonwicks and you can fight over it from there ...

    Cheers,

    Paul.
