"Mr Blunkett will also take charge of controversial plans for reform of invalidity benefit." That'll be interesting then.
I also note that Hoon has been moved to become Commons Leader. Can SWK tell me; is this considered a promotion, demotion or just a sideways move?
Is it just me, or does the fact that someone who resigned recently because of a visa being made 'faster but no favours' becoming *work* and pensions secretary seem ironic to you too?
If you voted Labour (which I'm not saying you did) that's what you were voting for. It's not exactly a huge surprise is it - Blair's been saying it would happen since he 'resigned'.
Obviously he knows how to abuse the system, so why not put the fox in charge of that particular henhouse? I hope the UK has fun getting screwed for another few years. Around here, we've got exactly the same kind of majority provincial government and it looks like they'll get in again at the next election. Sigh. Can't run away from the bastards, they're everywhere.
Although the re-election of NuLabour is unpopular with the majority I think it would be fair to say that the misdemeanours of the members of the NuLabour administration over the last 8 years pale into insignificance next to jailbird tory MP's such as Sir Jeffrey and the R.H. Jonathan Aitken. And of course gerrymandering tory council leaders like Dame Shirley Porter. And the arms dealing **** married to the Tory P.M. of the day. And so on ad nauseam. Etc etc[1] [1] Thought I'd add that bit for Blaney
