Ok, I did it... I bought a Harley.

Go ahead, laugh, I can take it...

Sportster 883 Superlow, in 'Cool Pearl Blue' coz I couldn't get any other
colour. Sheesh. I suppose it won't show dust the way that black does.

Hoping to pick it up Monday. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

    betty
PS - her name is Piglet
    PPS - how come this bike's a girl? I don't know...

    Hi betty.

I wish you much joy of your new bike.
Well, you've got one, and you are of the female persuasion.

Actually, it's a law here in Oz, that if there are two engine options
for pretty well the same bike, blokes MUST have the bigger engine, and
the smaller engine is girlie. ;-)

    He's right...

Ozstralia is the only place in the world where a DL650 WeeStrom with
crash bars, driving lights, bash plate and off road tyres chunky enough
to rip holes in the road is a girly bike!

Well, in that case, weather permitting (mine's strictly a fair weather
cruiser and so am I) we could go for a wee cruise, or you might even
pick up an escort (the non-sleazy meaning of the word used here) all
the way up the Putty road on your way to your basket weaving retreat
[deem evil grin included], depending on what your plans are.

[Imagines Betty riding up the Putty road with the entire entourage of
Sydney Ozmotians following, like a comet and its tail; lunch at
Wollombi; trading banter with Pisshead Pete, et al; and then everyone
    heading home in different directions.]

    Just thinkin'... :)

  10. Saw an 883 Sportster advertised locally, vendor said
it was "perfect for wife or girlfriend" thus alienating aprox. 50 % of
    the prospective buyers.

    Anchovy.

    lol.
I kicked my leg over one the same weekend you did.
There is something about them. Looking forward to your reviews in the
    very near future.

Throw the parts in a fire so they rust and look old unless they are made
    of plastic now!

Congratulations Betty aka Miss Piggy. ;-)

I was told things were given female names (before we became politically
correct) due to the unpredictable danger of them. I was also told the
new HD's were more reliable than the older ones.

Not a silly idea at all - to paraphrase Lennon, life is what happens when
    your not at the keyboard.

Hope you like the little hog Betty - a H-D is definitely one of the rights
of passage - always thought the 883 would make a good commuter as well 'cos
they are skinny for lane splitting.

    Go well you.

Reminds me of the time when I had ordered my Street Triple, and was
waiting, desperately, for it to arrive.

I had joined onto a pommie Street Triple forum, and some one asked
something about names and gender attached to people's motorcycles.

I posted a comment that, well, obviously, given how long it took for it
to come, mine must be female.

I got censored about that, and got a severe warning about posting in
    "dubious" taste. <shrug>

  20. Which of course brings to mind how the Red Sea was named.
Apparently due to the periodic visits of Queen Sheba I'm told.
