Some biker was caught on a French motorway doing 234kph.

His excuse was that he was on his way to Le Mans for the racing.

    Made Oi grin, that did.

  5. Out of interest, what's the penalty for that there?

I just cruised home at a steady 200, pondering that should I be unlucky
enough to get caught, it's amassive fine and instant ban. Hmm.

    From the site service-public.fr[0]

Speeds over 50kph are always subject to a fine of €1500. Points are
between 4-6 (which probably means that young drivers (who only have six
points[1]) will probably lose their licence.

Drivers cannot benefit with the "white licence" [2] for work purposes
and may also have their vehicle confiscated, if a judge decides.

[1] Don't forget that the French start with 12 points and work down to 0
[2] This is a funny sort of licence that lets you drive "voiturettes"[3]
[3] Google for it, we've talked about this before.

146mph makes the news? Hmm - UKRM could yet be famous.
So no one does over 50kph, ever? :)

On the current bike, sure (it's got an inbuilt speed limiter - the
front wheel seems to go rather light >indicated 120 and it all becomes
    a bit ... worrying).

On the previous bike, I saw an indicated 164mph on the clock on one
trip which the GPS reckoned was... 146mph.

    So hah to you.
