And age. My missus (now well into her X's) had her final wrist op 5 weeks ago when they broke her distal radius and made a gap (to lengthen the thing) into which they inserted a bone graft harvested from other parts of her. X-rayed yesterday and **** ME what a surprise. Magical bone growth to such an extent that they took the plaster off, gave her instructions to "get it moving" along with an appointment at the physio this morning and basically said "**** off and come back in 8 weeks so we can see how much movement you've got". It's as good as it's going to get wrt reconstruction, so she's got some work to do now (again). She said to me "Tell Champ there IS light at the end of the tunnel". So... Champ, there IS light at the end of the tunnel. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
The thing is, in breaking your femur, you've broken (amongst other things) the biggest bone in your body. I broke mine when I was 21. I was in hospital for 13 weeks and off work for another 13 weeks. That was a with clean break with no pins. Yours is a much more spectacular (for want of a better word) break than mine was. You are also older than I was. I had issues with mine "bending" on a few occasions before it had set properly. There were times when it felt like it would never get better. It did get better however and 30 years on I have no problems with it that aren't age related.. It's a big bone for your body to repair. It will take time, but it will come good in the end. Youjust have to grin and bear it. Trust me.
Excellent! Hayley is a bit concerned that the pin in her femur ball has gone loose as she reckons she can feel movement and has a lot of pain. -- Steve Parry BMW R80RS, BMW R45, 01 Kawasaki ZX12-R, 07 K1200GT SE 95 BMW F650, 87 Yamaha FS1, Sukida SK90PY, 91 Kawasaki AR50, 07 VW Passat SE Estate for comfort www.gwynfryn.co.uk
Excellent news. Unfortunately i'm in my (very, very early) forties and bone growth is a slow old process now if I break something. I'm concentrating on not skittling myself, me. P.

Yeah, she's a bit chuffed and her physio is impressed at the amount of movement. I'm not quite as chuffed as it seems too restricted to me, but I'll wait and see what the future brings. That's what I suspect kicked off tthe healing. She never fails to ask how you're doing. It's a woman thing I think -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
She's whinging far more than pre accident norms The most oft heard quote from her at the moment is "These fucking 'thlid' (or 'crip') sticks are fucking pissing me off" ..... I don't hear her whinging muh, but I do get a lot of "I can't open/close/lift/reach" this that and the other. Ohh aye, and "I need you to wash my hair" but that's only every fucking morning How is she about getting back on the bike? -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
Indeedy, I just hope there's a lot more movement to come. And it won't slow down either. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
My misus is in her early 50's. I KNEW that when she reached 40 I should've swapped her for two 20's like I told her I would. So am I, but it fucks up a good blast I can tell you. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
