I was browsing Maplins in Leeds, that's the UK equivalent of Amsterdam
sex shops and second only to Machine Mart, and happened upon this humble
item. A Rolson 72LED inspection lamp.

I bother to tell you and recommend the little gem because I'm utterly
chuffed to beans with it. *Incredibly bright* but a nice flat
distributed blue/whitelight that throws up detail. Magnetic and also has
    a folding hook.

Indispensable garage toy and a screaming bargain at £10

Probably also good for camping and winter rallies.

ps. if anyone is shopping for me at Chrimbo then

Got one a couple of weeks ago. It's brilliant!
Need to devise a method of attaching it to my pushbike
so I can see the kerb (no streetlights between my house and the pub.)

    That's pretty sad.
Dang I've just been to Maplins. Now I may have to go out again.

I really don't need one, but I'm tempted anyway. I see my local Maplin
    has 2 listed in stock...

While you're there, get one of those camera's on a cable that goes down
hole. Then give it to me and you'll have my undying thanks.

I'm used to LED light sources being rather wimpy, this is in the "don't
    look directly into it" class

I shall have one in the BMW toolkit from now on.

I thought so too, but then I've found 3M DualLock and it just clicked.

Out of stock in my nearest, 0.1 miles away. Oh dear, I'll have to walk
to the next one, which is 0.3 miles away.

I suppose London does have a positive side.

    I've got one of these:

Given the price, I try to use it as much as possible...

I've lurched to and from OEM rechargeable stuff. I think I prefer 3rd
party rechargeable batteries as in extremis I can throw in some standard
types. Especially something I want to carry on the bike/outfit. I have
a small stock of AA and AAA NiMH so always some to hand fully charged.

Cor I just discovered you can get 2700+ mAh AA's

Been around for several years. Even the 2000-2300 ones have now made
alkalines almost completely redundant in my household. Time was when
the old NiCads were really not suitable for many applications, but
these latest generation rechargeables seem to have no failings,
although I've not tried them in very long-term, low-drain uses like
    electric clocks and the like.

Come to think of it, are there not AA and AAA Li-Ion rechargeables?
