....and I still couldn't get the throtles on the Guzzi to balance until
    half an hour ago.

Basically this evening, I did the valve clearances, warmed the engine,
then tried to balance the throttles only to run out of fine adjustment
on the air screw. This meant I had to resort to taking the sidepanels,
seat, tank and airbox off to get at the coarse adjuster, which is a
very fiddly locking screw that lets one manually swivel the LH
butterfly, then measuring vacuum on the starter motor. I just couldn't
get the throttles to balance, with all sorts of erratic, inconsistent
    readings.

After a break for dinner, I had one last shot, and found that the
ruddy LH vac gauge hose was kinked...

Pretty normal 'month end' routine for my guzzi too.
    Bastard thing.

Mind ewe, after an afternoon's hooning round a rally field last Sat at our
club's summer party, my guzzi trike lost all drive. I thought it was only a
weld on the drive shaft coupling which had gone but no. On closer (and
*massively* more sober) inspection, I find we've killed a gearbox layshaft.
This one is going to get a bit fiddly and possibly expensive too.
