well, poor Barr. But $9m in client outflows is a bit of an ouch.
Can't say for Rosenberg, but for the main IM unit, generally "My Job
Went to Paris and I Didn't even get a Lousy T Shirt"

your joke would have been better if it wasn't the case that the second
"t" in "Winturther" is pronounced hard (as in the Swiss place they
    were started).

That was $9 billion, not million!

To show how bad things are, highest aum I saw
was $149bn just before the credit crunch. Various outflows
and price drops have seen that shrink to $41bn as
    at May this year.

But anyway, Barr doesn't need the money as he transcends
the need for money. And he made millions from Barra and
    the original AXA-IM purchase too.

Seems like AXA-IM finally got their wish to bring the
wayward son under control, and the good times are over.

err, yes - that is what I meant to type.
    as I said - ouch.
"transcending the need for money" is a good trick ;-) Only a Buddhist
    could manage it.
    I know.

You know that I had to do internal exams on Eiffel, right? [1]
In theory, it's a great way of learning OO correctly.
    In practise, it's fucking useless.
The language is no more than an exercise / researcher's folly
into the best/ most strict OO environment possible.

Having said all that, a lot of the features in Eiffel are now
    in C# 4!

We *never* got the .Net compilers working, and using it
in that way was frowned upon by the RC.

[1] of which I was the only one in my team that passed.

    Heh, exactly.

Luckily, I never got invited to the cult^H retreat,
but did have to endure many (very dull and rambling)
    speeches from him.

    I assumed as much.
I wasn't aware of that, mind you.
I know - hence my comment above.
well, that's going to help your future career, for sure!

Never met him - though I have had several dull cocktails-and-canopes
    conversations with M.Prunet.

    "Chicken Little"

He was a nice guy and a very good speaker,
but was an AXA corporate whore through and through.

My card was marked at one such soiree where the
    coversation went:
    SP: "Bonjour, ca va?"
Me: "Ca va bien, merci, et toi?"
SP: "Ah, I didn't realise you weren't French."
<SP walks off to talk to someone else>

well, he was put in place to fulfill that role, so no surprises.
hah - you were obviously an even lower level minion[1] than I was, as
I actually talked to him about god-knows-what at least twice.

[1] in theory I was a "senior manager", but not being French, that
    meant 2/10ths of **** all.
